POLAR VORTEX


At first I thought it was something a Lady would Wear..??

I think my Wife has one of them..seems like it sometimes..!!!

The high altitude jet stream shifted or was diverted from it's normal winter direction. This shift in winds brought weather systems normally held over the North Pole down into central U.S. No one knows why this jet stream shift occurred, although it is thought to be related to and affected by ocean temperatures.
 
Yep.

It has happened before and it will happen again regardless of whether we drive SUVs and burn coal or not.

I wish Al Gore would come back into the lime light again as when he was flapping his lips there WAS a heat wave !
 
So Dean do you actually know what the weather was the last 10,000 years? Ice cores back to that time show a dramatic increase of atmospheric Co2 the last 100 years or so. Also ocean temps have risen more rapidly in the last 100 years than in previous years.Are these events related? I say possibly. You and others just scoff at it. If you are such a weather expert you could make millions with your abilities instead of spreading your pessimstic views here.
 
Its official. We have had the coldest winter in 15 years up to this point in Sask. Worse to come on the weekend. Predicted daytime high of -27C. Thats about -20F. Not bad unless there is a wind with it and lately we have had more than enough of that. Not as much snow as last year.

Absolutely! And in my humble opinion more likely than too many polar bear producing methane gas. :) Though they're probably chowing down on the Bush's beans and beer that people dispose of in their trash cans or at the dump.
 
So how do you prove that a ice core is 10,000 years old? Scientists seem to think that something has to be complicated and ancient in order to be legitimate. They can't prove many of their claims, especially concerning age of something, any more than I can. I know that they have all that expensive and complicated equipment but that still doesn't prove a lot. JMHO.

watch how many times the words polar vortex are used when they figure out how it was OUR fault.
Here in the North, they used to just say a cold front is coming down from Canada, get ready.
polar vortex is just scarier.( I saw that disaster movie too, they ain't even original)
The Earth's climate has been changing back and forth since there was an Earth. We'll either adapt...or we won't

Yeah, it's normal in Minnesota.

The difference is that it's also happening in the South. Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, FLORIDA... We're supposed to be groaning in envy whenever the weatherman lists temperatures in the 60's, 70's, and 80's for down South through the winter.

Even in the winters of my youth, where it started snowing the day after Thanksgiving and didn't stop until Good Friday, it was still 72 in Florida, and -40 in Alaska.

It's going to be 35 in Nome Alaska today, and 14 in Rochester NY.
