since cows were being discussed...

Was just helping my friend feed his cows the other night.

One didn't come to dinner, so we knew something was up.

I went off into the woods to find her.

Finally heard her, with her head down giving me that keep-away moo.

I thought she was hung up on some old barbed wire or something - then saw this little guy pop his head up out of the snow, then right back down again.

Total surprise, we didn't think she was going to be ready for another couple weeks. Obviously missed something when the bull was around.

Long walk through the deep snow, but we got the mom and calf into a nice stall in the barn.

(They're together in the stall, I only have two separate pictures). And an older picture of the proud dad (with less snow on the ground).

Should have another one on the way this week, we should be more accurate with timing this one.

If your using a bucket to water put inside of tire that way the wont tip it. Nice cow and calf you can tell you take good care of cattle i like to see that

good idea with the tire - we usually chain it to the panel. Tire would be easier.

All these cows get shared by the 4h kids. So each one is treated very well by whoever's showing them for the season.

We try not to over-pamper them - but for sure they'll have good living conditions and good food.

He'll only be around for two years or so, but he'll have had it pretty good for those two years with this group.
