SWMBO loves the place. It is a big store with mostly higher quality products than you find at other such stores. They are good with customer service and have an excellent return policy if you have a problem. Wish I would have bought stock in the company years ago.

We go to Costco several times a month, and probably spend at least $5k a year there. I have probably bought 100 tires there and tons of groceries.

Costco is the least expensive place to buy certain things, not as good for some others. Their return policy is about the best there is. Quality is usually excellent.

Costco sells some things in such huge quantities that we never buy that item there. It might have made sense to buy the large quantities when we were raising 5 kids, but now with all the kids grown, the big quantities just go stale.

Another thing that is a fact of life at Costco: sometimes they will not have something that day, even if they have stocked that item for years before. And they are always bringing in new items that you might not see available the next time you are there. If you see it at Costco, you better buy it right then, or you might miss out.

I like Costco very much. It may not be my favorite store, but it is sure on the list of my 10 favorites. I am going to Costco tomorrow! good luck!

I find that I'm in a minority amongst my acquaintances, as I'm not a fan of Costco. I was a member for about 5 years, and let my membership lapse over 10 years ago. Checkout lines are always long, selection is not great and I always had to park a loooong way from the front doors. Add surly employees (if you can find one) and it just isn't worth the small savings over conventional stores. But, they seem to be popular, and I did make a small bundle off Costco stock in the 90s.

We have shopped Costco for years. We gave up our Sams Club membership, just liked Costco better. Gas is usually 20 cents a gallon less and we like certain things there, but which Costco and time of day is important to avoid lines. We try to go in the AM and avoid the weekends.

We shop there. Like it a lot better than Sam's. The several different ones we have shopped at are clean and customer service is decent. Sometimes the check out lines are long but they are pretty efficient.

Most products are of good quality that we have purchased and the Kirkland (Costco brand) stuff is good. Even though the bulk stuff is too much for just a couple we have enough grand kids who visit and MIL close by so that sometimes it's a good deal.

We don't have one nearby, wish we did, have relatives that shop there a lot. I understand that they pay there employees somewhat better than Sam's/Walmart or Target. By having well paid long term employees they save a lot on training costs compared to the competition, good philosophy!

The reason there ain' any Costco or Val-Mart stores in Afghanistan, is cause there is a Target on every corner

We dropped our Costco membership. First time we went, they had Peanut Oil at a real good price; nearly half Walmart. They also had Tillamook Cheddar cheese, the best (in my opinion) Cheddr on the Market. In the ensuing year, they NEVER had Peanut oil again and the Tillamook was there a couple months never to be seen again. As our Costco is 20 miles one way, it wasn't worth it for us. They were VERY pushy with trying to have us get an American Express card; even so far as to say "I've never found a place that WON'T accept it." Made me angry. I must not go where the Manager goes. They DID give me back the entire years membership fee, though, which I thought was more than fair.

We go once a week, usually with a neighbor, or neighbors. Excellent products, good prices. They pay their employees, much better than the other guys. Something like $21 per hour vs. minimum wage for the other guys. And they have full time jobs, not part time jobs.

One thing that has surprised me is how different the stores are from each other. One I've been near Detroit had a lot more ethnic and kosher items than the one here in mid Michigan. To me that seems to indicate that they can tailor the merchandise to the local market, probably not easy for a big company.

Closest one would be over a hundred miles away.
I will add about hauling into Sams Clubs: This was years ago, General Mills sold WM seven box cars full of cereal that was going to be out of date in three weeks. We hauled it all by truck and we were told it would be off of the shelves in one week.(I delivered one truck load, split between three stores in the KC area) That is one of the reasons why you can by stuff one week and not another.

I haven't been to either myself. A friend use to drive a 100 mi. to a Sam's before we got one locally. He was telling me he was going to go and buy a set of tires for his car. Came back and bought the same exact tire for $60 a set cheaper at the local Wally World. Didn't think I would bother to get a card.

We shop there. The quality of the merchandise seems to be good. I bought new eyeglass from their optical dept. at a good price. The one in my area is pretty busy most of the time I'm there.

My family loves Costco.

Best place to get batteries.

They sell Mobil 1 synthetic cheaper than auto parts stores

The CAPE COD CHICKEN SALAD IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD!

I love the Palmetto Pimento Cheese with jalapeno.

Good place for steak and lamb chops. Pricey, but quality

Costco usually has a good red wine selection.

Got a pair of down pillows there on Thursday for $15.00 and a nice Easter dress for my 5 year-old for $21.00.

We go once a month to stock up on the essential thing like milk and peanut butter, dog food cat food is awful my cat dont like it. Wish they would put up signs on the aisle so I didn't have hunt so much.

The reason you didn't see it again is because they don't operate like a typical retail store. When walmart or target cancels an order for a train load of jeans, Levi's calls Costco. A lot of their merchandise is stuff they bought at discount because someone else didn't want it, or someone made too much, etc.
They also operate on 17% mark-up. If it's $11.70 on the shelf, they paid $10 for it.
When I read about them maybe 6-7 years ago, the CEO's contract was 3 pages. Typical CEO contracts run several hundred pages.

I go to Sam's club, cause it's closest, and has cheapest gas. That way I kill 2 birds with one stone. Never been in a costco. Used to be a member of BJ's club(safeway), but their prices were higher, selection porer, so adios, my friend to them!

Buy my steaks from there, better than most steak places.Good deals on oil ,tires, soda and bakery items.

BIL loves it. He can return ANYTHING ANYTIME. Take his dehumidifiers back all the time no matter how many years old they are and get new. ANYTHING!

If SWMBO and I aren't there at least every two weeks, they call us to make sure we're OK. jk, but we love that place.

BTW, We find that a lot of our prescriptions are less expensive if we don't use our insurance. In fact, my insurance cancelled one of my meds that I paid 10 bucks a month for. Costco price was 14.00 for 90 day supply.

There is a store in Spokane that resells all those Costco returns...

(quoted from post at 17:11:48 02/23/14) How many of you shop there? What has your expeeience been?

Glenn F.

We share a membership with another gal...not worth it for just my wife and I. You can get better deals on food from local sales and coupons. I do like the quality of their meat. Other goods can be cheaper, but you have to price shop. A lot of people think that they are getting the best deal because they belong to a "club".

I don't like any store where they charge a fee for you to shop there. May be some good deals but sometimes a small family owned store will be cheaper. Tommy
