IH Fast HItch Implements

Hi all it's Bryce. Well I bought my FH, it ended up being $250, but that is EVERY thing for that FH, tool box new lines, etc. PLUS the special IH valve and up or down handle, PLUS two three point conversion kit prongs, PLUS a drawbar attachment. I think I did pretty good!

Anyway, here is my question: I have been doing a little research and I want to know what color fast hitch implements were painted? I have found three different ads on E-Bay, all of which say 1953. One they are ALL red, one they are all blue, and one is a mix!!!! SO WHAT WERE THEY?!?!?! Here are a couple of links to the ads I found. Thanks, Bryce
All Red

Literature is often not the best place to look for info on how to paint something. Sometimes things were painted in contrasting colors, to make something stand out for a photo op, display, or demonstration. Some stuff was hand-colored and/or hand drawn for literature and can be a bit, or more than a bit off of what was on dealer lots. Sometimes, pre-production equipment was used for photos, and paint schemes were tweaked later before the product was released to the public. If a new unit was used and older parts pulled from stock for showing add-ons or options, or older pictures used for the options, different eras of paint shemes and/or decals can be in the same literature. Other times an item that was available for years woud be shown with an older paint scheme and/or decals from years, or even decades before. Sometimes stuff is in literature that simply never made it to the public. In an IH cultivator parts book, there is a picture of a cultivator on what must be a prototype 300 or 400 tractor, or an HTA or MTA design that never was released, or something else yet. Looks to be a modified H or M with the fuel tank squared off on the rear.

I'm not sure what would be "correct". Someone will chime in. If not, the Wisconsin Historical Society has searchable records on paint schemes.

Most people expect IH stuff to be RED.When in doubt, go red.Since you have conflicting information,go with whatever suits you! It's your equipment.Iwould go with red with blue/other accents. Here is a IH #39 two waywith similar paint

I think I've got most of those Super C fasthitch adds some where here. I remember there's 3 different plow paint schemes, the disc I think is red frame and black blades. I'll look for those adds later today

You can go to the IH archives at the Wisconsin Historical Society and do a search for "Paint Committee Decisions". That covers a lot of IH equipment and a lot of years, so be prepared for a lot of searching. But eventually you should find the info you're looking for.
