Docs thinking more surgery for me must have good insurance .seen on here peoples opinons and experances and its a lot differnt then what the doc says real world cattle have to be fed and crops taken care of its not a factory job somebody besides you can take care of.
Springs coming calves coming in (raise bottle calves) oats have to be planted.
Made it through this winter after one surgery and now wonder what can a person do? I appreciate everybodys ideas and opionins it helped a lot last time thanks

Whats the doc saying? that you need more surgery on the hand that"s done. Or is he saying you need the other hand done soon. Jim

I had both of mine done 15 years ago. One the healed and then did the other. I was not out of commission for much over two weeks. They where a little sore if I did heavy lifting for several months.

Mine need done again but the Doc is not sure it will fix the problem this time. My hands are numb much of the time now. If I do much shop work I pay the price for several days after that.

Riped bicep and rotatar cuff coming off of that surgery .told them wanted both done wouldnt do it off work since nov only farm chores gained weight and going nuts said surgery in april wondering if i will have a job or not

I had mine doe in the mid 90's and they did micro surgery on mine. At the time I was making a loader and the next day after having it done I could have went out and worked. Did not even know they did anything other the the brace they put on it. No problems since

I've had problems for a long time. Never had anything done as several around our area have had one done, and said they weren't much better and would never have the other done. I have arthritis bad and figured it would reoccur quickly. It does make it difficult sleeping after hammering or wrenching. I have learned how to adjust to it and get by. My cousin had both hands done at the same time. At the time she thought it was a good idea, but said one at a time would have been better. Not saying it is all bad, but just my observations.

Is it just in your hands or do you get headaches and tight neck muscles too? I had severe headaches, muscles at base of neck always knotted, crabby mood, turned out it was in my neck, good chiropractor fixed it. Took a lot of visits but I could tell the difference after the third visit. Find a newer one,the old guys are good but techniques and knowledge have come a long way in 50 years.

Figure out exactly what your short term disability will be and how you can improvise. I had shoulder surgery with three months of therapy three days a week. Two weeks after surgery I was back to work and taking care of my horses. When thinking about people that get a long with one arm amputated you start to come up with ways to do things with one arm/hand. I changed molds and mold inserts at the factory with one arm in a sling.
Years before I got my left hand cut to the bones severing the tendons in a combine. I had an engine that I needed to get overhauled. I had a left thumb and with a plastic bag over the contraption they fastened to my arm and hand I got it done using my thumb. Did it hurt some? You bet but you can get thru that.

Fell on the ice and hurt my ribs and messed up a leg last Friday. I have since been doing chores using a walker. Takes more time but I got them done and the horses are happy.

When you think you are defeated before you attempt you are defeated.

Had both hands done, first one then the other, about seven years ago. Other than being careful about the incisions, I didn't let it get in my way. I was cutting and piling brush by the second day. I was even chording my guitar. I think people who baby their hands get over the surgery much slower. In any case, the surgery sure fixed my problem.

I had my hand done last December. About a 3/4" incision. Doc said work it as much as you want or can tolerate, the next day after surgery.

I am from nyc, 20 yrs old, got injured on a job in July and by november was told i had carpal tunnel (by this time i had saw at least 3 doctors. had intense therapy, 1 steroid injection all to left wrist area where the carpal tunnel was. experienced daily pain by the hours twisting, sharpness, tingling , throbbing, burning, numbness, coldness, hotness, cramping, everything you can imagine,i had it. i had saw all ortho doctors had cat scans , emgs and x-rays. by february i had surgery which went great no problems with healing hardly can see the scar but til this day i still experience a lot of symptoms one year later...tingling,cramping,burning and faint numbness and the occasional sleeping problems. before surgery always was on a 10/10 in pain after it ranged from a 5/10 - 10/10 depending on what activities i will be doing throughout the day. i think it does heal better if you don't do aggresive hand work, the doctors are very clueless when it comes to the pain and the way you feel.i never experienced finger loss sensations or tingling, only after surgery i felt cramping in my fingers. i saw a total of 5 doctors and i am still seeing more. to me the faster the surgery is done the better you will feel and it will help cause less nerve damage to your hand . even though i got surgery 6 months after the injury i wish it would have been done two weeks after the injury instead. after surgery you should def exercise your hand everyday and do all the exercises your informed to do. even well after the surgery you should perform the exercises daily. always massage the area as well. i hope all goes well xxccruz93

Have you ever considered seeing a chiropractor? The same nerves that run through the carpal tunnel are the same ones that run into your neck and can be pinched by your spine being out of alignment. The nerves being pinched cause the pain in your hands, regardless of where they are pinched. That"s what was causing my symptoms. I had three vertebrae that were severely misaligned. Surgery would have taken me off work, cost me a lot of money, and provided 0 relief.
But it would have afforded a doctor or two a couple days in Vegas!
