$2500 FarmAll H

Long story short, My uncle died in 2012 and had no will and the family was in for trouble. He and his son farmed together and had equipment they bought together so through the courts he had the option of buying his dads 1/2 out and keep the equipment and he did, As much as he could. Well they had a auction today, And there were a couple of things he wanted for his 10 year old boy to remember his grandpa.

This original Farmall H has a lot of history to our family. It was bought by a local farmer in 47 new and my uncle worked for him sometimes as a kid, At 11 he was given the job to rake hay with the H and was the first tractor he ever drove. Some years later (late 60s) I worked for the same farmer and ran this same H raking hay for him and was only the second tractor for me to drive. 9 years ago after the death of this farmer my uncle bought the H at auction and used it to rake hay again with and to jen around with it. He wanted to leave it alone and leave it as it was, Original!

Well today his boy bought it back for his 10 year old son to have, We figured $800 to $1300 would buy it but were we wrong! First time in my life to see a Farmall H bring $2500! He also bought his dads Farmall 100 manure spreader for $1000 for his boy to use to clean the pens for his 4H show steers. He said its a lot of money for them but he wanted to keep them for his boy to grow up on and use. So here is what an original Farmall H and 100 spreader look like now. Bandit

My Mother had to bid for a chair of her Fathers. Once other bidder realized Mom was trying to get it they stopped bidding. That chair now sits next to a window at my house like it did at his so he can use it like he did while alive should he come for a visit.

In family disputes things can sell for sky high prices. My Great Grand Father died without a will. His estate was fought over by the relatives. I just went to the sale and bought what I wanted. I have his anvil but I had to bid pretty high for it but it was a one of a kind for me.

That's a lot of money for an average H, but not much at all for a family heirloom. Nice to see it stay in the family.

The man running the sale knew he was going to buy the H at all cost . The more money it brings the more money they make . They had a ringer bidding aginst him !

MAN! I went to an auction last fall, and saw a whole line (probably 15.....) of those spreaders go for $50-$75 each! Some had rust, but most were in good, usable shape.

My cousin passed away several years ago. My nephew bought the old anvil that was on the farm; he didn't find out until later that the anvil was originally owned by his great-grandfather on his mother's side of the family. His mother was my sister.

You missed out, I have seen Amish paid $800.00 For One in that good of shape, For $50 or $75.00 I would of brought all 15. Easy money around here.

I hope that tractor never gets painted. Anybody can restore one, nobody can make one original.

Round here it ain't the Amish, it's to folks with 5-10 acres and a horse. I got a JD 33 Spreader a couple of years ago in pretty good shape for 600 off of CL but had been watching small rusted out, beat to death spreaders go for 1K or more at auctions.

I paid 800 for Grandpas F20. The engine had the crank and camshaft in it, but the block was sitting sideways on the frame rails. The ground around the tractor had the remaining parts and a lot of extras. I could have had the tractor years earlier, but I did not know one missing part from another, so I did not tell anyone I was interested. A man told me that I needed to buy the spare engine that was next to it, which I got for 100. When my Aunt heard that I bought it, she sent word out that she wanted to see me. She wrote a check for 600,to me. I LOVE that tractor. I was going to paint it, bright and shiny, but I like it better in her work clothes.

Unfortunatly - I didn't have any money! I was the driver for a couple of Amish guys. I think two brothers bought most - if not all - of the spreaders. I sure would have liked to buy a couple, though!

Saw a Super M in its original work clothes sell for $12000 at a family estate auction a few years ago. Two family members were bidding on it.

Took almost 5 years to settle my fathers estate. My sons are now working that farm. Didn't get anything we didn't pay at least market (and sometimes higher) value for. But my sons have the farm they always wanted. I'll more than likely never live long enough to get out of debt, but then I wasn't expecting to open any Swiss bank accounts anyway, so what else is new? (smile)

Lol. Forgot about that, If there"s Amish there I just walk away. Their pockets are deeper than mine. If you drove them there they may of let you bid on one of the junk ones.

I seen a nice straight lookin H with a decent paint job sell for 1050 yesterday at a dealer auction.
I brought a spreader like yours only the longer version about 10 years ago. It was painted up and in pretty good shape. I paid 600 for it and thought that was allot. I would want close to a 1000 if I was to sell it.
So he didn't do too bad on the spreader but I think the tractor was way high, in my opinion.

At an auction not too long ago,I saw a young man battle it out with another bidder till he finally won the bid for his grandfathers pickup truck. Also saw four sisters at the same auction po d at each other all during the auction,They put the farm up for auction the same day,one of the sisters won the bid,the other three were po d that it didnt bring enough!

i don't think that is out of line for a nice original. Anybody can repaint tractors. there are not that many unmolested ones left.
