Old tractors

Last night on I 80 near Kearney NE we passed 2 semi's loaded with old Tractors, If it would of been daylight I would of tried to get some pictures for Sweetfeet. One had an old crawler like a TD6? loaded crosswise on the back, and a JD G on the front, with a couple of others in between. Hope they weren't going to a scrap yard.

Russ MN,

Oh, I hope they didn't go for scrap either!

At one auction we attended summer before last... a scrapper was buying almost all the old tractors - it was a bummer. Tractors on full steel, F20 with a perfect shutter system, good PTO standardizers... all of it went to scrap.

Lots of old tractors get hauled to Mexico and resold down there. I met a guy that lives across the border that deals in used tractors and most anything else that he can sell. Some of the old tractors also get loaded on ships at some seaport (Houston is one) and taken to South America. When we lived in Alamogordo, NM, I would see semi loads of tractors almost daily headed south for the border.

Met a guy once that went around and bought old school buses to ship to South American for use as their public transportation system.

There was a pretty big sale just west of there at Cozad. I know I saw a crawler like that there. I doubt they went to scrap. But it was a public auction and well attended. Everybody there had a chance. You can't whine if you don't bid.

I still hate to see them get scrapped.

The day the scrapper bought all the tractors to be scrapped, we were only looking for a plow - so no tractors on our shopping list. But still hated to see them get scrapped. Parted-out ok, that helps another tractor live to see another day... but scrapped is sad.
