OT High Winds Today

We had winds up to 55mph today here in Highland, IL. One mile from us 7 power poles were blown over and we were without power for a little over 4 hrs. Had to rent a generator to run out sump pump.

We used the ole Coleman lanterns for light in the kitchen and basement and where ever we went.

I was surprised that a person can buy Coleman lanterns on ebay cheap, depending on the model and year they were built.
 
Im in Chesterfield. Never lost power, but it did take some siding off of the north side of the house, and plenty of shingles missing from the west facing side of the roof. Oh, and lots of sticks and small branches laying all over the yard. I heard on the radio (wsmi) on the way home from work that there were several semis blown over on I-55. Cant remember where they said though. Want to say Raymond area.
 
I am east of you about 85 miles. I don't think winds were as bad as the weather guessers thought. Was a Tornado sighted 5 miles to the South West. Bad place, but must have raised up. Never did any damage, except turned a semi over on I64 about 5 miles from Indiana. Power flickered a time or two, but stayed on.
 
mid Tenn. fierce lightening, constantly for half an hour, high winds driving the rain right thru the buildings but only lasted couple of hours, never lost electric. We'll see what daylight brings.
 

No high winds yet in W SC, but heavy rain and thunderstorms. Temperature 60.

I am from Shumway. We had a tornado come through that originated around ST Elmo. It took down power poles along its way and broke off trees. Another storm went through Stewardson. That storm went to Neoga and tore up buildings and trees in it's path. Lot of power outages. Seems like where the poles went down it was always about the same amount, 8-10. We got power back at 3;am. Stewardson has no school today, no power.
 
Had the same thing here in Missouri. Springfield had winds around 62 MPH and had roof blown off etc etc. I went to a friends place to fix his Case 580B back hoe and had to pull a tree off a country road to get back to town
