Liquid Saddle Tanks

Are liquid saddle tanks worth much with the mounting brackets?

About a mile from me a farmer has two tanks each 150 gallon with 6" channel iron to mount them to.

He wants $75 for the two tanks and two channel rails with mounts bolted to them.

IF you want them to use that is a good price but there would be few buyers of saddle tanks that are that small. So making money on them would be a long shot.

I was thinking of using them just as water storage tanks to water my trees with but he said years ago the used the tanks to spray Treflan. So I didn't want to chance it.

You could rinse the living day lights out them, using ammonia and they should be clean. I don't know if certain trees are Treflan tolerant. You could talk to a good arborist. I understand your hesitation. You have a lot of time and money invested in new trees and if they die you have to start over again. Jim

If I remember right Treflan shouldn't be a issue.

It needed to be incorporated into the soil to work, and isn't its mode to stop germination?

That being said I use tank cleaner. Powdered stuff that is used at a rate of a pound to 100 gallons. I let it soak usually for a couple days. Do this a couple times for your use and I think you should be good.

Now if the tanks have even a slight whiff of 2 4 D dont' even think about it. That stuff holds enough punch to kill trees for a long time.

All said if you can use on one tree and wait a week to see what happens before using across the whole orchard.

Also if you are talking very many seedlings you will be making a bunch of trips at 300 gallon per trip. Transplanted trees need to be soaked pretty good for the first year.
