Finally bought it

Well the 9700 Ford tractor that my grandaddy and his sons bought new in 1977 is now mine.About a year ago I ran a post asking advice on what to do to try to buy it from the bank that was foreclosing on my father and I got all kind of responses and opinions.I decided to just wait out the bank and see what happened and the wait paid off.A repo agent came calling about three months ago and I got the chance to make the bank an offer on the tractor. They took my offer and I sealed the deal yesterday. To most it looks like a worn out piece of junk but if tractors could talk this one has a lot to tell.It was the only tractor ever bought brand new on this farm. This particular tractor participated it the tractorcades of the late 70's or early 1980's and even wound up downtown Atlanta in one. This tractor went through an FHA foreclosure sale(sitting in the farm shop in three pieces) and was bought back by my father in 1985.I have always said I hated this tractor because it always seemd to go down right when you need it but I just couldnt let it go to another home. For the first time since 1977 it does not have a lien on it so maybe it can rest in peace until I get the time to restore it back to its original glory.

Good to see you got your Dad"s tractor back. The only one of ours that I know left in the area is owned by the local BTO. It"s a "72 4020 wide front, "my tractor" the day it was brought out new from the dealer Daddy said it was mine, I was only 6 years old but it was mine! Wish I had the money to get it back....Worth more now than when it was new in "72.

i still have a 78 trans am that i bought for my 18th birthday. if that thing could talk, I'd cut it's tongue out, i would :)

Glad you got the tractor. There where very few larger Ford tractors around here. The 9000 series Fords just about sealed anyone from buying them around here. Then the TW series really finished the few Ford guys off.

Jay in NY I'm not trying to steal post or anything like that, but to answer your question. father in law bought a 9000 ford, he went broke trying to keep it together.

I see many references to going broke trying to keep fuel in a JD.
