want ad, does'nt anyone want to sell parts?

I am looking for a specific part for an antique tractor. The tractor in question is very common, I have posted a want ad several times in the appropriate section on this site. Several guys have called to say "yea, I have one of those tractors I am parting out, I will take the part off and call you back..." etc, etc... The odd thing is, I never heard from them again! :? :?

So, I am kinda wondering, has anyone else had similar experiences?

I haven't had any troubles buying part for common tractors.
Not on this site or elsewhere for that matter.
Those uncommon tractors can get hairy though!

Saw a picture from Don L. of Rusty Acre, mostly Case stuff. Parts tractors buried up to their hoods in snow. Keep trying. Its been a long cold miserable winter. gobble

Deep snow, strong winds, below zero..... Winter is a tough
time for some of us to run after a $50 part. Out in the fence
line....

There is a wonderful guy, not far from here, who has scrapped out tractors by the dozen. One brand. I have called and asked about a certain part. "Oh yes, I've got lots of them". I get over there, and, we start to look. Then we look some more. And go through it all again.
I suppose it hasn't happened a lot, but even once got my attention.

I can totally understand that. Funny thing is this started last fall when the temps were moderate and no snow... I suppose it is possible that they went to get the part off the tractor and discovered that it was bad and that is why they never called back. I guess my take on that is a little different in that I would call back to let a guy know that I do not have the part. Not the end of the world, I was just curious.

Yea, I do know where you are coming from. My neighborhood
tractor each antic said he had called 3 places to find
something for my tractor, no one was really interested in
looking even tho their computer listed the parts....
