I am new here - I don't know how this works but I am looking for info and parts for a international 240A diesel tractor. This tractor has a nice loader (payloader written on the side too) 3 point hitch and power takeoff. I have not been able to find anything for this tractor but I know there is something out there because I possess this machine and someone made it and sold it. Is there anyone out there that knows about this tractor.

I have a 260a, your 240's big brother. Internationals industrials line was bought by Dresser and then Komotsu (sp). However komotsu doesn't offer much support. My 260 was based on a IH 574. Not sure what your 240 was but Case IH may be some help. Otherwise salvage yards and good luck with that. What parts are you needing? Have you bought the tractor yet? If not may I suggest researching another brand. Not a bad tractor but parts are hard to find.

Thanks for the tip Rusty-Yeah, I got this tractor from the lumberyard where I do a lot of biz- Got it for nothing but the starter is shot.I put a new solenoid on it and got it to turn over but the spring on one side for the brushs to armature is broken so I need a starter. Probably going to need more parts too (definately!)

The starter may be common to other IH tractor
engines. A good automotive electrical shop that
does starter/generators/alternators, should have
no problem getting starter parts, or fixing it.

a quick google search and it appears its the
industrial version of the 454 with the d179 3cyl
engine
a brand new starter should be around $300 plus core
if it has hydrostat trans
around $200 no core charge if gear drive trans.
parts for the 454 574 should not be a problem

Thank you for the info- Yesterday I had my parts house order a starter, That wasn't to hard but when I start needing make specific parts it will get interesting/frustrating if I don't have good info like you have provided about where this thing was came from.
