I hate this time of year

Well had a few things I needed to do out side today. Warm enough that the top of the ground has thawed but just the top so it is like walking around no a sponge. Mud every where and if you step wrong your foot sinks down just enough to cover your shoe with mud. And talk about hard to walk around and do much

I would ALMOST welcome some mud. Two roller doors at barn that are probably frozen in until May, a manure pack that is frozen 3/4 way through, ice buildup that is starting to lift gates off hinges and frost under door sills to the point there is no fully closing them after using a wrecking bar to open them.
The season of slop/mud will come.....at least it will be different.

30's, 40's and wind the last couple of days took the frost out and the ground has firmed up already. Dug some carrots yesterday...

yes ,,, We Are Sick of WINTER HERE,,currently don't have a 4 wheel drive runnin , 4 miles from cows, GOT 100 ROUND bales in a tuf to get to spot ,always said if its that bad that I need 4 wheel drive ,,I will just wait a couple days , WHEN THE WEATHER IS BETTER ,, this yr . never got a chance to get in there ,,, tried today and made it ,,but dangg lot of aggravation .... tractor just sits on top of ice spinnin ,, mud /ice ,/ snowdrifts $hit / slop hale ,, and then just got half inch of rain , that s runnin everywhere,, because the ground is froze,, temps are up to 35 degrees, sposed to stay there all nite

We'll be getting into the ugly looking time of year here in NWIA pretty soon too. We have practically no snow so on a warm day like today anywhere there is no snow or gravel is not somewhere you want to walk. I actually did move a little snow today with the box scraper. Took me a whole 30 minutes to do all of both farms. We're in a little dry pocket where a couple of inches of snow is all we get. A day with temps above freezing thaws it all off. On a normal winter, if there is a 'normal' winter anymore, we have piles of snow everywhere. Jim

Agree, Old, as I hate mud too!

Peoria had a 70 year old 30inch water main break last week - - water company said, yes, it was an old pipe; but, frost is down 3.5 feet this winter.

We got 5 more inches of snow today, total of 48.5" for the winter, which makes it the 2nd highest snowfall record, now past winter of 78-79, only behind 2010-11 when we had a 18" blizzard.

BUT, we"re supposed to be above freezing for next 5 days - guess how much mud we will have then?!?!

Be careful, we olde ones don"t bounce too well when we slip and fall!

I welcome the mud, yea it is sloppy, yea its tough walking, yea its a mess. But we can't get to the next season without it and I am really tired of below zero with strong winds. Can;t do anything outside for more than 30 min or an hour before fingers and toes are cold and hurting. Give me the sun in my face 40 degree temps and I'll put up with the mud. jmho. gobble

18" is a blizzard?
Never mind.
That's what I get for living in a snowbelt/Lake effect area.
Around here 18" is just a reason to call in to work LMAO

Sure as hell would love to see mud here! I might get sick of it in a couple days but, it would beat the crap out of all the snow we've had/ have.

I am for real. I have gravel where its needed and don't walk where I don't have to!
guess your overhauling a tractor in the pasture now, cause garage too dirty. pasture's are usually a clean place to walk just don't step in cow caca! your the one complaining its muddy all over, and I just gave my input.
some people just have to complain about stuff then get mad when someone points them in right direction. get real and think about your complaining. everybody knows mud sticks to boots in the spring. and clay is the worst stuff. didn't mama tell you not to play in the mud ,lol you want me to send you some rubber boots, so you don't get your shoes dirty.

Again think about it. The barn is in the pasture and the pasture is where the animals are so I have to move hay in the pasture and I sure as heck will not put gravel in the pasture. Sorry many places a person has to go that you are not going to put gravel down

Rubber boots are the simple solution to keep your shoes from getting muddy!!
