2014 tractor projects

I've got too many started already! Lol. I should paint my B Farm all since the mechanics are all done. Could finish painting the Harvey Red Hed corn sheller, finish the JD 490 planter resto. The 72 Plymouth seems like a good one to finish too. I just need to pick one and finish it!

I've been half azzed working on an Oliver70 Orchard for a couple of years , The engine is seized and has a small freeze crack behind the starter. I've been stalling in hopes of finding better sheet metal for it , but I guess I'll just go for it with what I have. My show is the one in Vista, Ca. and it's on Fathers day weekend , so I better get it in gear !! hahaha Anybody got the grille screens and the OLIVER nose strip ?

I have far too many that I need to finish and a couple to start.
Plan to finish a Farmall Cub and F-12. Might finish the BN.
Need to start on a Ford, at least to the point it moves on it's own.
Have several others waiting for that round tuit!

Have a WD45D that needs an engine rebuild. Plan on starting this in the spring. Otherwise the tractor is in good shape.

Got the cylinder head off my JD D to get it resurfaced after a blown manifold gasket. Been too cold to work on it, don't need it until spring. Gonna get to it when I get back from winter vacation.

Got the call Friday my engine is ready to pick up, is a 172 that is to go into my NAA Ford, replacing a tired 134 Cu. Inch. Have sheet metal on another Jubilee to repaint and another barrel to paint. Our local club has a barrel ride for the show. the kids love it. Anyway they wanted all to be painted to represent the various tractor makes. I already did one for the Fords and now getting to do a Farmall.
Of course the weather has been so cold cannot get much done.

Just R+R'ed the injection pump and replaced a hydraulic hose under the cab, both on a 6420 John Deere.

The hose, they hung it in space and assembled the ENTIRE tractor around it.

Used to wonder why some of those newer tractors seem to self-immolate every once in a while, no longer... just an UNBELIEVABLE ball of "worms" under the cab... hydraulic hoses and wiring harnesses chafing against each other and the chassis.

Just toss in a little chaff and oil residue, and there's gonna be no putting it out in time!

Yes, whatever gets in the way first! Now if that is a as-bought project, unfinished project or a project that has developed due to use and age, just depends on which project got in the way!

Yes to both...... I'm most of the way through restoring a Massey Harris I-244 USACE tractor. Next up is a '52 Case DC, a 1950 MH 44 kerosene and a preservation job on a 1965 Chevy C20 step side. Too much to do and not enough time and $$$.

Working on my MM G1355, and then hopefully this summer I will restore my 79 dodge Powerwagon we will see how it goes.

Just normal stuff on the tractors, new tie rod ends for one, head gasket on the 1206. Stuff like that.

Rick

Came out of a 1960 Ford truck. I have the cast pan from a 6000 that I'm thinking about using. It has four bolt holes in it that I can use to mount the front axle.

Around this past December, I finally started dismantling my 1948 Farmall H. Hood, grille, head, manifold, radiator, and some other stuff are all off now. Still need to split tractor to remove the engine block. She is getting a complete rebuild, polished/turned crank, valves, pistons and sleeves, etc. Just picked up some distributor parts from Dwayne at Rustic Red Acres today so I can complete the overhaul of that component. As I pull stuff off, I am going through it and replacing anything that needs it, sand blasting, painting, and re-assembling. Finished parts go back on the shelf till I start putting the tractor together.

Already the project is beginning to look pretty daunting. Told Dwayne today that I probably screwed up and started on the wrong tractor. Should have tore into my 1929 Farmall Regular first. Engine is already out on it, and there ain't as many parts to begin with.

My 1949 Ford F-2 with flathead V8 is an ongoing project. Drug it out of the weeds on June 9, 2012, and spent that entire summer getting it road-worthy again. Drive it back and forth to work now. Mechanically it is great, but the body, which is the most expensive part to restore, looks like hell.

I got a Farmall H and a Ford 9N that both need rings (at least). Then just plan to work the snot out of them and the Ford 2600.

Yep picked up an Allis Chalmers G. Mechanically it"s good. So clean it up, pound the dents out and paint it up. New tires of course.

Just finished!!!1937 F12with 2.8L V6 from BroncoII.Wide front SuperC,12.6x26 combine tires,straight stacks.Did the 'maiden voyage' today.pics when I get a new camera.Steve

Trying to finish a D17 diesel pulling tractor. But aren't getting along to good. Been to cold and LP is to high. Also backhoe sprang leaks at 3 cylinders and needed a new oil pan and oil pickup tube. Maybe I'll get it running by July!

just got a 641 ford going for some people that just ran it untill it quit, still have the 57 chevy underway got 3 stock trailers to paint and 4 trucks maybe and sometime i need to replace a couple transmission bearings in my farmall cub before spring, all in my 'spare time'between jobs working this place, ect

My father-in-laws H leaked oil between the block and case, according to him it should be a quick fix. Well........driving it to my shop he realized the front wheels wobbled so I've got the front pedestal torn down, head had to be removed so may as well get the valves touched up, pistons were out so may as well re-ring and hone cylinders, carb got rebuilt today, and I finished rebuilding the clutch earlier this week. Just waiting for gasket set and rings and I can start putting her back together.

Winding this one up. Started on the fenders yesterday. The fender's middle stiffners spot welds sure put some deep dimples on the opposite side. So a little bondo work is in progress before paint. Couldn't let that one go. Oil pan also fixed and painted. Started on it in June 2012. I could have not done it without the help from the kind gentlemen on the IH form. God bless em for willing to share knowledge with an old greenhorn like me..

This my first ever tractor project, although I've done a few Harleys in the past. Funny how your prioritys change as you get older.

Best regards

I don't know, but I see the connection: Hogs and tractors makes sense to me.

I have a MM UTS in the shop I bought for parts with stuck engine, couple years ago tore it down got it running, now was going to get it working good and sell it as I have a bunch of U's. But I just keep doing more and more and will probably be all painted, new guages, new wiring, gas tank is sealed, before it leaves.

Cabin Fever got me out to buy this A. I have begun to buy small parts for it. I plan to work it, and on it this year. When it's right I'll paint it up nice....still have to earn its keep though!

It's taken me 3 years to get this far. My top priority is to get another Firestone 11.2 24 tire, then maybe next year I can get new fenders and a seat. Everything that you see painted or shiny is either new or rebuilt. Hydraulic pump, starter, final-drive, etc. That's 4 different tractors salvaged to make what you see here.

replaced the hydraulic pump in my '57 MF 50 in December and need to replace the front axel pivot bushings. looked at a '51 TO30 Friday but it was a little rougher than had hoped. still pondering on it though.

Our shop has been busy the cold kept us inside and bored, first I finished up a farmall f-14 that my grandfather bought new, then a friend's 48' farmall cub that came on three pallets and a basket of bolts (what fun we had with that one), then 48' farmall super A some seals and brakes with new paint, the a 54' Super M-TA ( my favorite) just a repaint, now ready for primer is a 41' Farmall A, and almost ready for primer is a 36' Farmall F-12 with factory wide front. Weather is supposed to get better so the 1066 will have to wait for some cold that could come back at anytime. Hope all your projects go well. Tom

Took this 3020 with a hole in the side of the block and put the engine out of a 4230 in it. Turned out really well. Planning to use it next week on two big grading jobs.

Well I bought a Oliver 1550 Utility diesel last fall and till it turn real cold I was working on the brakes and changing out fluids, But O in an unheated shop stopped the work. This week its going to warm up so I can start work on making battery box/steps covers it needs. Once that's done I will find or make the right under the hood muffler for it and fix the butcher up hood and have it ready for planting season. Paint will be later on this year. 1 new back tire on 2 new ones for the front to be put on and I will have a tractor with all new tires on it, First time in my life to have a tractor with all new rubber on it! The list on things to do never gets any shorter. Bandit

This one is my brothers. He did most of the work as we did it in His backyard. Actually it was a lot easier than you might expect. Making the longer side frames saved a lot of parts changing. Really was fun.

Need to finish a Super M bad, started taking it apart in November 08. It's been all done and painted for a year and a half, all I need is one 13.6 x 38 Goodyear Traction Torque tire to match the 90% one that came on it,ain't buying new ones for a tractor I don't need and can't remember why I bought it to start with.

Ive got an M5 MM gasoline Im overhauling. Been looking for some .020 over pistons. I have pictures but not on this computer. Also have a cab to put back on my G950 MM.

Stumpy(NH); that photo is TERRIFIC! I wonder if Sweetfeet has spied it??? Shooting the subject at an angle and the overcast light. And that wonderful snow scene. Good luck with your project and thanks for sharing.
