Location of buzzer on 2007 GMC

I can't locate the buzzer on my 2007 GMC work truck. I purchased truck new. I don't remember removing it. I'm looking for the buzzer that tells me I've left the key in ignition. I've looked under the dash, inside the fuse block on left side of dash. I've checked for a bad fuse, even in the main fuse block under hood left side.

I don't ever recall hearing the buzzer, but shure would like it to work.

Any pics of buzzer and location would be nice.
thanks
George

Hi George,
I just went through the same thing. Mine is an 08 and the buzzer sound goes through your front door speakers. I would guess that your seat belt buzzer does not work either. If like mine the front speakers in the door are bad. I did a search and contrary to what they will tell you at the dealer it is a very common problem. Stick to your guns and they will fix it under warranty. Turn up your radio and stick your ear down by the door speaker and it will be either out or just making little sound. Hope this helps you.

Paul,
You are right seat belt buzzer doesn't work either. Never really missed the seat belt, but I need a reminder to remove the key. I wonder if I have the controls on the radio set wrong and it has the speaker turned off?

Radio does work. Thanks for the heads up on what to look for.

Will be removing speaker.
Thanks
George

Paul, You are right, no sound out of left door speaker. I need to find the tool to remove the window crank, get a different speaker.

MY truck is a 2007, why should GM fix it under waranty?
George

My 08 2500 has only worked from time to time since new. My key is almost never removed so no big deal for me. Thought there might be a bigger problem than just mine though, now I know. Hope you figure it out, let us know.

They fixed mine cause I showed them where on some websites that a Google search sent me to that GM was aware of the problem and had been fixing them like it was a recall item. Then didn’t ask questions they just fixed it. I’m sure that any after market speaker you get will be of better quality then what GM puts in them. Lots of you tube stuff about these GM speakers going bad and how to replace.

If you have any recall material for my 2007 GMC speaker please give me a link. Did find out how to remove door panel on u-tube.
Thanks

I bet a half dozen times, I've turn engine off and forget to turn the key to the position to remove it. Next morning battery is do dead I have to put a jumper battery on it so charger will charge. It takes a good 5 hours to bring battery back from dead.

I had a 1969 bug. The owner's manual said it was a good thing to drain and recharge battery. However I've read where it's a bad thing. I've also read where you will kill a GM alternator if you start engine with a dead battery. I've also killed 3 Auto zone alternators that way.

If it's a good thing to drain battery, my truck battery will last a lifetime.

What do the rest of you think? To drain or not to drain? After my last drain, the battery desulfated in record time, overnight.

I find them annoying. Anybody know how to kill it?

I did ok driving cars before they beeped and ponged and talked to you. I hate it.

George,
Never heard of recommending draining a lead acid battery. That just can't be good for anything.

Now the old ni-cad rechargeables, for tools, they recommended draining them occasionally.

I think the problem with burning up an alternator with a dead battery came about when alternators got crammed into a smaller case, and the amperage went into triple digits! Less air circulation and heat dissipation, lighter duty components to save space.

It was never a good idea to do that to one, but in the old days it was rarely fatal.

Do you have steering wheel controls? I know that gm trucks (and some gm cars) with the steering wheel controls and dash information center, you can turn the open door tone off, and I believe the seat belt tone as well. The others are correct, it does come through the door speakers.

Radio (volume, bass, fade, balance, etc) settings won't affect the door chime. If you put in an aftermarket radio you also lose the door chime without a some sort of logic box plugged into it, too.

It comes out the driver's side door speaker this happened to my 06 gmc the speaker stop working some how I figure it out. I don't keep my trucks very long so I never fixed. Also you could have your balence wrong on your radio.
