We have 1-2' of snow on the ground here in Eastern Iowa. It should be about 8-10 weeks until we start planting corn.

Not really looking to promising, but want to be ready.

Nice looking ear Larry.......course you knew that our you wouldn't have had it photographed......Grin.

Not being a corn grower, with rows like they are and mixed color kurnels......some sort of sweet hybrid?

For as cold as it is and has been,I wonder just how much frost there is out there under it?
I need to get some bales out of the fencerows but couldn't get through the 4 feet or so of snow that's in the way even with FWA,so I went out day before yesterday and plowed some of it out of the way. I got too low with the bucket tipped too far a few times and dug some awful divits. The ground was just wet, wasn't the least bit frozen. The water just might go away quick when this melts.

Can't wait I have enough winter. Here is a pic of my 4020 gas and 494A. We plant most of our corn with a 7200 but like to plant some with the 494A for fun.

avid, here by Albert City we have a whopping 2" of snow on the ground. Over in the Manson area there is even less. We went to Sioux City a couple of days ago and they have almost no snow. A couple of nice warm days and we will have no snow in the fields. What a difference! Jim

Talked to a guy yesterday in the excavating business. He said they are running into 5-5 1/2 ft. of frost if there was no snow cover in some of the jobs they are doing. No wonder it doesn't warm up-like sitting on a huge ice cube. SE. SD.

he towns in my area are having tons of problems with burst frozen underground pipes because we have no snow cover for insulation. Jim

On 20th Feb last year I planted my first early potatoes......This year I think it will have to be rice!.......Though having said that....The rain stopped at 9.30 this morning and Iwas in the fields cutting hedges with my tractor at 2.00 pm. There might be hope yet???
