Who would have thought!

Well I was unloading my snowblower off my truck this am at the farm, outta 3 trucks only my ford tailgate cables are still intact since new in 2000, the dodge and Chevy ones rotted threw, and I don't replace them, so the tail gate has a nice angle for loading the snowblower on, but, I put my 2.5 gallon spill proof 2 cycle gas can on the tailgate, when I pulled the blower across the can slid off the tailgate, well being so cold the can cracked! I've had good luck with this can, but most the ones out there now are junk. I got thinking I usta use Rubbermaid 2.5 gallon for years, until the can got punctured and I couldent buy replacement spouts for them anymore, so I look on eBay, wow, the price of used cans is unreal! Who would have thought older cans would sell for more than when they were new? Must be everyone can't stand the new "carb" ventless cans, lol!

Jay, I messed up twice. Farm down the road cleaned out for auction last year. They had a dumpster in the yard I looked in it must have been 10 poly and metal gas cans and I left them. I messed up. I went to a yard sale where a guy had a tractor. 5 old gas cans for $10 buck I should have grabbed them I messed up. oldiron29

I have 3 or 4 OLD steel gas CANS. 1 big lid in the center to fill them and 1 small lid on the edge to pour the gas out. If anyone ever stole them I would track him down, Even if it took Me the rest of My life!

I really like my california inspired CARB compliant gas can. I had to drill a small 1/16 or so vent hole in the valve to keep it from bloating in the sun. The gas can almost rolled over cause it was so bloated one day. I also removed the safety from the valve. Now I like it better cause it can be shut off except for a little dribble through the vent hole.

Drill a hole in those plastic cans and install a valve stem without the core. Remove the cap when you are pouring..

I Always bought every Eagle metal can I found at Flea markets/auctions. But now they are few and far between, and when they do show up are $$$$$.

Jay, I was having a bad time putting some fuel in a tractor out of one of the new cans, when it was about 5 degrees, about a week ago. It reminded me of when you brought up this subject maybe last spring. The old Eagle cans with the plastic funnel that snaps on work so well that they will have to get banned soon. But act now!!! there are some for sale on fleabay right now for very reasonable money. There are some fives, some 2.5s and some ones. There is even a 2.5 with the old time swiveling steel flex spout. I will have to bid on one or two.
