truck tires

Looking to replace tires on a 2011 GMC 2500. Has the Firestone Transforce HT tires it left the factory with, size 245/75/R17. Plan is to stick with this size of tire. Looking for suggestions and opinions on a good all-terrain tire. Something that will last, quiet on the road yet does well in the dirt, snow and mud.

Copper AT3's.

Bought cheap($800) from Orschlens unmounted. 265/75-17 for Ford F150.

Been on for about a year or roughly 15,000 miles. Rotated once. Quiet on the road, but plenty of tread pattern for dirt/mud/snow.

Zero complaints. Will buy them again when they wear out.

Had BFG A/Ts on my old Toyota. Could NOT wear them out. Little pricey though.

One of the heavy duty Ford company vans I drove, I put Michelan Heavy duty truck tires. Changed the drive and handling of that truck like you couldn't beleave!

We run the transforce both ht and at. I got 80k out of a set of the ht's I took off this fall but you could see the air.

I put the Firestone transforce AT on my f250, I'm happy with them, my brother put cooper tires on his f250, he's also happy with those.

All we run is the transforce firestones on all our company trucks. They are a great high millage all around tire. We are in the mud and we plow a lot of snow.Jim

I agree on the Cooper AT 3,s or even the AT,s which are a little less cost. Quiet ,great ride , excellent grip and wear and made here in USA (so far)

I just put some General Grabber AT2 s on my pickup, only been on a couple thousand miles of below zero driving so not much of a test, but deep tread, quiet on the highway. Happy so far.

I've had Grabber AT2's on my F250 for a couple years. I too am happy with them, and for the same reasons.

Had General Grabber AT2s on the last truck, I liked the tires but wasn"t sure how they would be for a daily driver. I"ll give them another look.

I agree with you, bf Goodrich all terrain TA, or Mickey Thompson mtz, but the Mickey Thompson tires are very spendy.

I'll second the Michelin motion. Tried lots of brands, nothing in particular. Put a set of Michelins on, just a 1/2 ton Silverado, but made that wore out truck drive better than when it was new! One other benefit, they've been on 18 months now, only had to add air one time!

Bought them from Tire Rack, no tax, no disposal fee.

My 2010 had the same tires, that's what I replaced them with at 70000.Cost around 800 bucks.

Run BF Goodrich radial TA's on mine. A bit spendy but run forever and clean out good in the summer mud.

Go with the same tires you have. Only get the AT, instead of the HT. Very happy with my Firestone TransForce AT tires. I"ve run Michelin for years. I don"t know what has changed, but you can not Give me a set of Michelin tires now. They turned out to be the worse tires I"ve ever run on a truck. The wear is poor. The traction is very poor.

I must not be living right. I have never had a pair last longer than 35K no matter what the brand. But then ours see gravel too.

I have ran several sets of Transforce with good results, and I drive a fair amount of gravel. But, last set on my 3500 dually I switched to Goodyear G947 RSS because the tire shop gave me a great deal on them. We'll see, but they seem to be working out just as good. We also run Transforce on our ambulance at the fire dept. and they do good in that application as well.

I used to be pretty set on tire choices by performance but at these prices you have to shop around a little. I like to buy from a shop that will actually fix a tire instead of hiding behind the liability excuse.

You must not be. I got 78K out of a set of cheap Uniroyal Laredos on an F250 that always had a load on it. Lost track of how many miles are on my current Michelins. I took them off my previous truck when I retired it, and put them on my current truck. They weren't cheap when I bought them but I've gotten my money's worth out of them.
Can't say that about some Goodyears I had.

My 1999 Chevrolet S10 came new with Uniroyal
Tiger Paw"s, Had very poor traction, specially
on rainey days, in the summer, spun taking off from stop lights.Worn out at 40 thousand miles.
I went with Coopers, now on 2ed set, get about
65,000. Now have 180,000 on the truck. It runs
good, I"ve changed plugs twice, it burns no oil,
I change oil every 3000 miles.

My truck had Michellins on it when I bought it, 97 F350 7.3l diesel, crew cab.

Tire store where we do business doesn't carry Michellins and suggested the Bridgestone Duravis. Even though the catalog says they are the right tire for the truck, they have been trouble and hard as a rock.

When they wear out, I'll get the same type of Michellins that were on the truck before.

I agree with the transforce AT I've been running them for several years. The set I have on now have over 30,000 on my 02 GMC 3500 which has 440,000 on it. I do get the most miles out of the transforce AT than any other tire I've tried and gets around good in mud / snow for a "quiet" tire.

my brother and I have been having good luck with NITTO duragrapplers on our 3/4 ton trucks kinda expensive but worth the extra money for the mileage we get out of them and they by far handle the best out of anything else ive ran
