What makes a funny funny?

I'm curious why some of the funny's I post get replies and others not so much. I'm frequently surprised by the number of responses that some of my funny's get, both for lots of responses and those with few. Yesterday's and today's are good examples, I thought yesterday's was great and today's was mildly amusing. I've run across this before on FB where I'll put something on and either it gets no response and I'm disappointed, or it comes across as way funny and I can't figure out why. I guess I must just be more odd than I thought. lol
 
I like them all, just don't always have time to post. Today's is much more on topic and more people relate to it. I laughed out loud when I read it and that does not happen every day.
 
I don't comment on them much no matter how funny I find them. So maybe its not the humor level, but the audience. Keep em coming by the way.
 
Just speaking for myself,if they spark a story in the back of my mind I comment. Otherwise I just chuckle to myself.
 
It"s funny you should ask this, Not hard to explain. What may be funny to YOU may not be funny to US!! AND what may be funny to US may not be funny to YOU!! Hope this clears up all the funny business.
 
Everybody's funny bone is different. It might also depend on the weather. If people are in a lousy mood they won't respond. I enjoy them, but don't respond. No offense intended.

No offense taken, I don't much care how many responses I get, I'm just curious what makes some get them and some not.
 
I don't comment or post much anyway but I always enjoy your funny's. Something to enjoy with my morning coffee !! Ken
 

I like them all, just don't take the time to reply, I show them to the old lady, she just rolls her eyes, no sense of humor I guess. :)
 
All good hearted humor requires a connection to either experience or dreams. Thank goodness we are all different. Jim
 
I like most for example one day I saw one that I didn"t think was funny but my girlfriend was looking behind my back and read it and started laughing. Everyone is different.

An important rule about "funny..."


If you see a garbage truck slide on ice and smash a car, it is funny.


If you own the car, or are driving the garbage truck, it is not funny.
 
agreed with above posters ,, always read them , don't always respond ,, but enjoy them all the same ,, are you feelin like johnny carson thinkin they mite of bombed ,,, lol
 
Sometimes I post something and you guys don't get it at all , but that works vice-versa....Although TV has narrowed down the funnys we still have a cultural difference....I don't get your political humour as I don't know many of your polititians(maybe just as well, I gather!)and you won't get our political stuff. Farming stuff is universal....but what I really don't get is these modern young comedians on both sides of the Pond who just use profain language as humour. Now I am no prude, as some of you may gather and I can cuss like a trooper if I need to.....but using it on a stage has a real negative effect on me and makes me think this person is just too dumb to use proper English and be funny......Am I just turning into an old grouch????

I completely agree on the comic's language. I won't watch them if they get too bad.

Clean humor... yet indicative of real life things that just make one laugh - that's what I enjoy.

Sometimes I don't reply even if I find them very funny... but do enjoy them all the same. So I vote that you keep on with posting funny's.

Did you see the Windows vs. Ford thing that Samn40 posted? It was super clean - but hysterically funny...because it was so true and we could relate to it! 14 year old and I both laughed until our sides literally hurt.
 
Did you see the one about a Titty bar. Some farmer/rancher has a trailer with a "liquid" feed system to feed his calves. A reservoir with hoses connecting to a series of nipples that can handle about 8 calves per side. Funny because we can relate to it and it makes sense also. We laugh and move on.

Jon, I read and appreciate your posts, especially the daily funnies.

But, there are days I simply don't feel like posting - -sorry!
 
"Humor", is in the eye of the beholder. What is funny to one, isn't to another. If we can relate to the cartoon/caption...it usually comes across as funny or relevant. Sometimes it doesn't come across that way.

Don't be offended when you receive few replys. At least you're making an effort to input some humor into our lives.
