Tire chains

I'm looking to buy a set of tire chains for my Farmall H. They are 12.4x38", I was just wondering what a good price to pay is?

Free would be good - not gonna happen. Check your local long haul truckers for discarded units and make a set. HTH

First you're not going to find any good used ones, unless you are very lucky. Second I just did the research and tirechains.com is the best priced still. I bought from them a few years ago, and just placed another order for some more, for a different tractor. They have several different configurations so find what you want from their site.

They list for 12.4x38 from $302 to $514.

Don't waste your money on chain tigheners. Let them flop. I bought a set of chains with the rings on the inside and outside. Took the rings off on the inside because of fenders but they work great. I have not tried the cross link ones.

I did that 30 yrs ago took a set of double 900X20 truck chains and took the center chain out used one link to heat and bend the two cross chains together. With such long cross chains they would fit 18.4X38's on a 4010 jd. Not the best of chains but better than not having any especially on ice!.
Still have them.
