Does any one no what the first year was they put water pumps on A john deeres. An was it standard or just an option at that point?

Are you talking about the pump mounted in the bottom of the radiator? Or the pump mounted in the lower tube? The in radiator pump is as said. I do not know if Deere ever used the in tube type but there were aftermarket in tube units that could be put on any of the A, or B tractors clear back to 1934 models. When the in radiator pump came out it was standard.

thanks for the info my tractor did not have a seriel number tag so i was trying to figure out the year but i new that it had a 18 gallon gas tank so i knew it had to be at least a 1950

This one has not got a serial number tag on it so i
was trying to come up with the year model and i was
thinking it was a 1950 to 1952 model but im not
sure

As stated earlier water pumps were factory installed starting at ser# 700200 ('52).

Looking at the footnotes in the parts catalog p/n AA5646R, a complete pump and tank bottom, was available at some point for retrofitting on ser# 584000(1st late-styled)thru 700199.

P/N AA4895R was an 18 gal conversion set for ser# 584000-655571.

Based on water pump and 18 gal tank your A could possibly be a late '47 to a '52. Most likely though it's a '52.
