Reddy Heater scam

I have had a high priced multi fuel Reddy heater for about 6 - 7 years. It failed within the first 3 months. They replaced the circuit board and it lasted less than a year. Sat ever since with trying to heat the shop and pricey lp I thought let's just order a new board and try it again. $160 and a nonreturnable policy only to get a circuit board that does not even attempt a power up and is erratic temp controller. Isn't it bad enough to they sell us products that have no service life and then they take our money and ship us junk. Are there any laws to protect us from these scams?

Back in the 50s and 60s govt helped us. They set up consumer protection laws, and regulations that helped the country work.

Now not so much. The govt is focused on subsidies to the poor, and universal health care, and such. Both sides seem interested in letting big business be in charge of how things work.

The govt used to pass privacy laws on mail delivery, and make people feel safe and secure and worth while as individuals. Now they are the ones keeping databases of our private communication and putting us in our place treating us like livestock.

I don't want this to be a shouting match, so I'll stop there.

I do believe the govt used to help us fish.

Now they just want to give us fish.

And we are reaping those rewards.

Best thing to do is RETRUN This chit as soon as we can. If they lose money selling crap, Then maybe they will start to sell better stuff. I use to just throw small stuff away if it wouldn"t work. NOT any more! If it only cost $1.00 I return it! Returned two saw blades in a row a year ago be cause there was only "ser" on one side, they were great if you wanted to cut a round hole. lol. I could of put them in my vise and "set" one side, But I brought them to USE! Not REPAIR!

Let the buyer beware.
Many think the govt should not be involved in our business.
Until it bites them.

I've had some sucess in situations like this by contacing the local State Attouney Generals office, the better business buearu (sp?) and occasionally I have contacted my State represenative and gotten some satisfaction. Might be worth a try.

Doesn't pay to fix this junk anymore. I just bought a new heater from Sam's Club a few month back Kerosene/diesel Heater I think it was 180,000 btu, for $235 shipped to my house. I don't see it online so not sure if they have it anymore.

"does not even attempt a power up and is erratic temp controller."

1)How do you know temp control is erratic if it won't even power up?
2) quick to jump the supplier , but I don't see any evidence that you "diagnosed & KNEW" for certain that the board was the problem.
3 boards & still no work.......just maybe the board is not the problem.
You have several that blindly followed your lead.

DESA, the company who manufactured Reddy heaters, went bankrupt in 2008. Anyone selling Reddy parts today has no connection with the original company.

I have had a reddy 55,000 for 20+ years. Needs cleaning now and then but works. I am using a friends 100,000 now with Diesel and it is working great. Take it back and make them make it right with you. KEEP AT THEM.
