New Farm Bill

Sen. Stabenow (Mi) is the chairwoman of the senate ag committee, so she has some pull. Doesn't hurt that MSU is the first land grant university either.

Well - not TECHNICALLY -

MSU was used as a PROTOTYPE for the Morrill Act (Land Grant Bill). Iowa State Ag College (Now ISU), was the first existing college granted "land grant status" under the Morrill Act, Kansas State University was the first intitution CREATED under the Morrill Act. Rutgers is the oldest intitution to recieve Land Grant Status.

Might have something to do with the gov. of Michigan pushing hard to get this state bigger in future Ag. As the country is drying up and many states are loosing their water table from so much irrigation Michigan has 1/3 of the worlds fresh water supply. Gov thinks Mich. will soon be THE place to farm. Water is abundent here. At least in northern MI.

You might be right. Somebody had a plan to start farming all that vacant land again. Maybe he decided to give up the idea and put it in CRP.

That absolute disgrace to man and womankind, debbie stabenow is to our eternal disgrace, from Michigan and heads the Senate Agriculture committee.

Being a Michigan guy, and all that, I just wonder how much we all paid to get the hero-in-charge to Michigan to sign the bill instead of just doing it at the White House and letting his press people make the most of it.

only 20% of the bill has anything whatsoever to do with farming. It's not a Farm Bill, it's a FOOD STAMP BILL!
