They migrate down this way for the winter. About 10 miles to the north of me is a large lake (Smithville) where they winter over. Since the lake is frozen over and fairly deep snow right now, they say the eagles are feeding on the geese.

I see them every now and then where I go fishing.

I've had them sit 10 feet away from me on branches, or circle right over head.

They're so cool - until you catch a fish - then you realize just how big they are.

Got a couple pair I see often, around my place this year. They are fun to watch. I took this picture back in the summer of one in a tree next to the house.

Saw one yesterday morning sitting in a tree overlooking a pond near my house. It is amazing how big they are.

They look great. There used to be a pair that wintered by my in laws house about 10 years ago. my in laws would go south for the winter and I would go feed animals every day. It was really neat to see them sitting in the trees on those really frosty mornings.
One day i was out in the yard when i heard a whooshing sound like a car hitting water puddles after a rain storm. I looked up and down the road and nothing was there and the roads were dry. Then I looked up and one was flying over about 50 feet up in the air and there was the whoosh every time it flapped its wings. Just awesome to see and hear.
