Cool! I had always wanted to build something either inside or on top of mine. Mine has a roof on it though.

One more thing. They call that a 50' silo. It is only 40' is my guess.

Gene is yours one of those old concrete ones?? I wish I had one of those on my place. I have always wanted to build a multilevel house out of one. A floor every 8 foot and a look out platform on the top

There is a place near Alexandria MN that built a deck on top of an old silo. Don't know if anything is inside.

I wonder what hind of fastening he did when he put it up there. There are some good gusts on top of mine. That thing would have lots of side force applied to the silo. Probably not a good thing to do in Kansas.

What do you suppose his insurance agent said? I can imagine how well that discussion turned out.

in hazel green wi they have one made into a house and rent it out.one next to me that its made into a light house and the best one guy put a hot tub in the top.
the amish buy them tear down and rebuild them also

yeah was thinking the same thing - not sure I'd feel too safe up there! Awfully top heavy.

I'd be afraid it'd twist, or one side would crush inwards.

Might feel better if the silo were at least half full of something.

I assume they know what they're doing - maybe they discussed it in the video? I have no sound right now.

Cool idea either way.

Several yrs ago we saw a J D "G", IIRR,, along the hiway east of Kankakee, Ill. setting on a silo roof. Heard that it has been there for several years.
About the same time there was a M M "UTU" on a silo roof near Durand, Ill. clint

I don't have any pics, but designed one for a friend for his kids. Basically a series of pie shaped platforms inside at different levels with ladders. Couple knockouts for windows. Kids loved it.
