Well after reading everyone's posts and doing research I
settled on the Micky mouse military boots. They are very
confortable, I was worried they would be to bulky, I also see no
problem driving with them. Tomarrow will be the test outside
for a few hours! Thanks guys.

I got them on eBay, guy wanted $69.00. , I made a offer of $59.00 and they accepted it, I were size 11, but they recommend 1 size smaller, so I got 10r. They fit fine. Just search on eBay for Micky mouse boots, mine came outta Texas. Look at this on eBay:

You will be very glad You did it. I (mid MN) wear mine every day when it is as cold as it is here (hasn't been above freezing for 10 days and mostly hovers in the -5 to -20 range). I have been convinced for 48 years. Jim

The boots are sealed internally and externally. When the wearer is transported in a airplane, or climbs a mountain, the boots will pressurize and swell. (thousands of feet change) I took mine on vacation to Colorado and made mountain passes at 13450. My air vents were open until getting back to lower elevation. Keeping the vent closed while wearing them is important to keep them from "inhaling" moisture. They are the very berries. Jim

Thanks for the info Jim, I'm gonna wear them outside tomarrow, I dident try them tonight, as I don't wanna wear them in the horse manure! But my brother and I plan to make maple syrup end of the month, and ill be wearing these boots! I even think I can shift my atv with them, left foot shift! Ill see tomarrow.

I think I will be happy, one question, mine are stamped inside, nov,1 1982 ? And a contract number, here's a pic, not the best pic, but would these be surplus from then? Or what would the date mean?

Jay the Army did away with them in the late 80's early 90's. Too many soldiers got trench/immersion foot and or frost bite. They were never intended for much walking. Do a lot of walking and the are so warm your feet will sweet. They actually started life as a US Navy boot for standing watch aboard ships in fridged zones. The Army adopted them as an emergency measure after the first winter during the Korean War. That winter the Army had more causalities due to cold weather injuries than from combat. Once the Army buys something they seldom if ever will say "gee guys we need something different" That would cut into things like weapons development. Us tankers loved them until we got decent heaters in the tanks (early 80's) that worked most of the time. When I retired the winter foot wear for combat operations was the combat boot with rubber overshoes. Mickey mouse boots were no longer in the inventory. Now today they actually have a winter combat boot. That's something the Army should have learned they needed after the winter battles in Germany during WWII.

So guys, any of you that decide to buy some, if you gotta be out in the cold where you will be doing a lot of standing or sitting they are great. If you are going to be doing a lot of walking get some real boots designed to keep your feet warm without overdoing it (besides the Mickey Mouse are heavy and clumsy to do much walking in). In the cold like we have been seeing this winter warm is good. Sweeting is bad, real bad. Get wet and you could be in real trouble.

I wore my first set of Mickeys in Korea in 82. Loved them. I grew up with cold feet, I've always had cold feet no matter what boots I got, Sorels were about as good as it got. Then I found surplus Mickeys and happiness. I don't know how anyone could possibly get frostbite in them. I suppose it's possible, but I don't see how. They are fine for walking as that's all I do all day long in them. Best winter boots ever, bar none.

I bought my kids size 8 MM's I found on line for $7.00 a pair. Last pair I got 3 years back were about $35.00. Search around, they can be had inexpensively.

Which pass was that (13,450)?
