Does anyone know of any Sheppard Diesel SD-4 tractors around? I have never seen one in person, and would like to find one. I read somewhere that they are rare, and I never see any posts about them. LOL I even checked the Orphans. . .nope. Time to add a different color to the collection!
 
My dad's cousin scrapped one locally, about 40 years ago.

I asked the owner of the junkyard about it, and he said it was long gone. He couldn't remember what he did with it.

So, that means there are 176 of the 177 that could possibly exist.
 
A friend of mine that restores tractors, has 4 Sheppards!!! 1of the SD2, 2 of the SD3's and 1of the SD4!!!! All restored and running, well did, has the head off the SD4 I believe getting some wrk done on it at the present time but I have seen and heard them run!!!! He also has a statuary SD1 motor that also runs!!!
 
we have ten sheppards 1 sd2 1sd4, 1 sd4tc very rare,1 6m conversion,6 sd3's cool to collect but that's all their good for.
 
They were built not far from me in PA. Our neighbor had one when I was discharged from the Army in 1955. It think it was the first diesel farm tractor I had seen. Hal
 
I have an SD-2,Sd-3,SD-4.All wide fronts.My SD-4 is a western standard,sold originally out of Sokane Washington,has 23.1x26 rear tires.I also have a 6-M farmall conversion engine and a model 17 generator.
 
Just a side note, RH Sheppard now makes power steering units for large trucks. They have a foundry and make frame parts for bobcat skid loaders. they have a small showroom on broadway st in Hanover Pa with some tractor and engines.
 
One of the reasons they sold poorly was there was no floor plan.Old man Sheppard wanted every tractor paid for as they left the factory.Also they were expensive,compared to their competitors.
 
I have one along with a bunch of other odds and ends. I'm quitting and want to have a sale before Spring if this weather ever improves. NW of Peoria Il.
