We hear from time to time about tractor repowers. My reversed F12 loader has a 4 cyl flathead Jeep.I am working on a 'hot rod' F12.Repowered with a 2.8L v6 from a BroncoII. This month's Red power mag has an M with a 392 IH V8.You hear about Detroits,Cummins, misc V8s,others installed. What kind of 'repowers do you guys have? Steve

Built and have a 1957 Austin Healy Sprite with Toyota Corolla 3TC 1800 Hemi, and 4sp trans. All toyo wiring and electrical (the Prince of Darkness was Banished). I have had a 67 Chevy Caprice Wagon on a IH 1ton PU 4X4 chassis with a 390 FoMoCo engine, FMX auto trans. (It was sold before I moved to California and still operates in AZ.)
A 1966 VW microbus with a Jaguar 3.8L DOHC engine in the middle.
Another more practical VW microbus with a Opal 1.9L OHC with a Dagenheim 4sp and a ford 3sp transes in a row. 13sp forward and 7 in reverse.
A 1958 Ford Vannette with a 302 Mustang and auto trans.
A schwin medium weight bicycle with a Maytag.

One thing to consider on any repower of tractors or trucks is the engine weight, especially if the original unit does not have power steering.

Neighbor took out the small 6-cylinder engine and put a big V-8 in an old Studebaker pickup. He could hardly turn the steering wheel with all that extra weight on the front axle. He drove it home real, real slow 7 miles away, parked it and never drove it again.

Oliver 1950T and 2150 repowered with propane burning 454 Chevys. I They were my main farm tractors for many years. Still have and occasionly use them. Also a reversed super WD9 with rearend loader, powered with a 305 chevy running on gas. My main loader tractor for the last 20 years.

How about my Yamaha golf cart with 18 HP briggs V-Twin?

Yeah, it is a tractor. Use it to pull trailers and log splitter and haul chain saws and equipment.

Not a tractor, but when I was young and (more) foolish, I put a 401 Buick engine and transmission in a 55 Chevy pickup. Lots of bugs to work out, and to be truthful, not a good swap. I wasn't good at shortening driveshafts - limited tools - did have access to a welder, but all cutting was done with a hacksaw and bench grinder. Never was able to totally eliminate the driveline vibration. I "think" I could do a better job today. I finally found a nice 327 and put in it - shoulda been my first choice, but the 401 was available.

I like your reversed loader tractor. Never get tired of seeing pics of it.

There was a neighbour a lot of years ago that managed to fit a 327 in his Chevy Vega. On a more practical note another neighbour had a MH 55 with a 3-53 Detroit in it.

neighbor would repower his 59 chevy4 door with the same 327 that he ran in his 60 impala convertible the summer before ,,he swapped the motor 4 times , and I helped ,,.

We can do a 3.9 cummins in to an IH scout in about two days. Have done several that worked out well.

I've never had the time or ability to do an engine swap, but I own the F-12 my dad installed a Chrysler flat head 6 in when I was just a toddler.
