Here we are talking about trucks today , so I thought why not post a pic of your farm pick-up. This is my truck a 1990 GM 4x4 .I traded 2 truck loads of hay for this baby , and this thing is a beast ! What do the rest of you drive? Bruce

gmc high sierra very special went and visited an old neighbor he had an amazing life and inspite of an early sickness and being crippled owned 4 farms loved visiting him. when he passed he left me his 2002 with 12000 miles i still miss him.his renter got the farm

my good pickup is a 2003 chevy 2500 HD. it has done a lot of work since I got it in 2006, but it has been somewhat high maintenance.
here it is loaded up with the cub loboy on the way to a red power roundup.
I also have a 1986 F250 diesel flatbed that gets used when I need the second pickup.

Mixed feeling about pick-ups over here but there are more of the 4 door versions getting about due to some tax dodge....don't even ask!!! They are not quite as large as your pickups , but we find them not very practical....we get too many sudden showers over here for carrying bags of cattle meal in the back and we have too many with sticky fingers to leave anything at all in the bed! Instead we like medium to large SUV type vehicles and Landrovers, they really are the farmer's friend here! I drove a series one Range Rover up until 3 years ago and then I got this bombproof Toyota Landcruiser Colorado.....It's OK..... if you never had a Range Rover!

Bruce that 350 is a strong runner though not so great on gas mileage if I recall. Two weak points. The distributor will break down around 40,000 miles. It's location on the back of that hot engine block was real dumb. Also you might see coolant starting to leak at the back of the engine on the driver's side from the head gasket. I had the distributor replaced twice, the head gaskets once.

2004 Dodge Cummins 6sp. It has had a 14k bumper pull trailer hooked up to it 90% of its life. Just replaced the brakes for the first time last month at 120,000 miles. Chipped it @ 80K, made it into a great truck in the mountains. Plan on keeping it a long long time.

If I want plain fairly economical transportation I take the 09 2WD Colorado. If I want to haul almost anything I use the 98 Dodge dually. it's 2WD too. It also sits in the shed a lot. If I REALLY need to get there I use the old dependable indestructible 79 Powerwagon. Jim

I have A 1994 F250 Ford, 5 sp.Std trans with overdrive, gas. It is A work horse. I sure like it. Has gooseneck hookup.

Had a buddy that had a '70 K10 short bed like yours, red, factory 400 SB.

I had a '69 K20, green, 292, Dana 70's front and back. Never should have sold that truck. I don't know what I was thinking, except that I obviously wasn't.

You have one shap truck there. Thanks for sharing.

Mark

You guys all have great farm trucks! I just sold my 65 Ford 1/2 ton two wheel drive. Nice old truck but couldn't feed with it because it would get stuck before I left the gravel. Now I have an 85 Dodge 350 four wheel drive. This thing is great for feeding, not much for top speed though and it loves gas. My dog wouldn't ride in it when I got it--guess she new it was a Dodge....She finally thinks its OK.

we had a tracker,I smashed the front of it,the roof leaked bad ,and then the timing belt went so we got rid of it,but it was a tough little truck, wish I still had it

I have a 91 Sidekick with 90,000 miles on it that looks just like yours only it is black. It is my run around vehicle since my truck always has a trailer hooked to it. Handy Dandy, 32 mpg average isn't bad for a 4x4!

Just to keep it tractor related. Lincoln Mark LT. One of the best looking trucks that Ford ever made and they quite making it.

Larry, Eldon,

I've had many brands, but that GEO tracker of that era would outperform them all, pound for pound.

Reliable, but very prone to rust.

Wished I had the chopper too, but only got the 02 F250. Of course Have a 84 F350 6.9 for plowing snow. And then there is the real truck 49 IHC KB2.

thanks, it was originally light olive. The previous owner painted it that UK blue, paint is definitely a 20' job, but it (the paint) is 20+ years old. I actually wish it was still the light olive.

Currently running a rebuilt but mostly stock 402. It is fun to drive, now has original buckets, a console and no radio

I have always wanted to drive a truck with a 292, just to see how they would pull

Sam, after driving an old 2 door rangie in the uk in the mid 90s... i finally bought 2 classic rangies here, one for road trips and one for a farm beater... second one is a little rough around the edges... they are one of a kind, would really like a 110, but they are way too expensive over here.

13 GMC 3/4 with duramax and the KW takes over the big stuff. Couple tractors in the shed also.

Here is one of them. Not sure if I got pic of the other. This is my 1950 GMC being reworked. GMC 270 with 3 on the tree. Will be repainted cream and chocolate brown where gold.

I had the same truck. Was red and grey though. It was an animal. Only complaint was it's not so luxury ride. My brother has it now. I keep trying to talk him into a frame up restoration.

This old pick up is a 78 F100. In its previous life it hauled calves, cattle, building materials, hay, brush, firewood, you name it. Sorta on the easylivin' side now but its turn will come when the snow is gone. We gotta get this place back in shape after this long cold winter.

2000 F-350 with 6spd powerstroke it's a true torque monster. Has 250k on it and runs as strong as the day I got it.

I guess!! Not many trucks can pull a trailer straight up like that

one of them i have this is the 1980 chevy winch truck [pto winch] 454, 4spd and 4;56 axles also run a '83 chevy flatbed dump and a '70 f350 hydraulic ladder truck [ mechanic truck] plus a 88 gmc not too impressed with the paper thin body on the 88 and plain will not buy a newer truck i like my old ones

1989 F-150 4X4 with 300 6cyl and Spicer T-18 4 speed. I had to order it because all the dealers had were the 5 speed Mazda aluminum transmission with no granny 1st gear. Has 85000 miles on it. Sure looks small compared to the new F-150s!

Gotta love that 1990-1999 series of GM,s. I don't farm anymore but here is what I haul my trailer/tractors/machinery with and lots of grandkids in. 14 yrs old and spotless w/79,000mi. At 63 yrs old, it will outlast me.

I really need to add a card reader to this computer.
SWMBOs daily driver/hay getter is a 82 Dodge Pioneer 225 slant 6 3 speed w/OD that she once put 39 bales at 40#s each on while my current is a 95 Mazda B2300 with 4 on floor that I had 30 bales on. Have a 85 Dodge W100 318 W/3/4T rear suspention needing complete rebuild as sitting to long on dirt

87 F250, 6.9 diesel with a turbo added and a 5 speed. Used to haul just about everything I need to move.

86 K10 is my "on-farm" truck and is used for plowing about a mile of driveways and lanes everyday and also used for hauling wood and hay in the summer time.

2002 Ford F150, 5.4 liter 4wd auto. I have to be nice to it because it is also our trip vehicle. My wife drives a Ranger and there is not that much room in it.
