Do you know if the deep shaft mine at New Athens is still operating.I believe this was originally Hanna Coal Company. This was my grandfathers farm. Haven't been back down there in quite a few years. Still own some coal rights and the oil and gas rights. Just wondering about it.

I really do not as i have not been down in that area in twenty five years . and i have not hauled coal out of that area since 79 . Sorry

Big Ruh. I was in the Army 1961-62 with Clifford Wright from New Athens and there was also a fellow by the name of Apple from that area. I think Clifford drove for Nighthawk after he got out.

60 acre hillside, I do remember Clifford, although not real well as he's about 10 years older then me. Apple I have vague memory of him. I haven't seen Clifford since I got out of high school. Don't know if either ones is still around.
