I know this has nothing to do with a tractor but i
was just wondering what you other guys in different
states are pay for propane. Here in Wisconsin it
was around $189 the middle of Dece. Now it up $6.99
a gal. Talk about robbery.

Pre-bought for $1.90, today is $2.99 from my supplier in Central Mississippi. He said price would probably go up tomorrow due to huge wholesale prices going up over weekend. He is going to honor price on all pre-bought.

$4.89 today, will not fill till under 20% then only 200 gal max unless supply is low then anywhere between 100 to 200 gal. call when tank reads 30% to prevent runout. what a mess and price will be higher as week wears on.

$2.69 for me 2 weeks ago. $4.79 for my buddy today. Same supplier. He was told they have plenty of gas if you want to pay the price. Hauling it from Texas to MN in trucks.

1/27/2014 paid $2.89 for the shop,,,the driver told me it went up 50 cents today...
He also told me residential was $4.79..

I have a rental hose about a mile from me and switched it to total electric this fall... If they want heat pay the electric bill I don't have to be the middle man anymore... There's about 200 gal. in my tank there so while no one is look'n gonna move it to the shop one week end that will get me thru this mess....

He also said they would have to truck in what they get the rest of the winter because the main terminal was down are they did not have any... (Apex, NC)

They are reaming residential accounts

About the same here, locked in near same price. Problem is, my supplier is rationing it not to excede 200 gallons per delivery. Right now we are at 175 gallons in a 500 gallon tank. We dialed down a tad bit to conserve our what we have because they won't come out until we get down to 100 gallons, and are now saying may not have the supply on hand when get that low. Next year, one of the converted to LP fire places will have been converted back to wood, and will have installed some electric heaters as well. The days of being locked in won't work against us to this extent again. This year they got us. Shame on us, me for letting them. Learn from my mistakes.

Don't know if this is true or not. Guy at coffee shop said today that the wait at the refinery in Texas was 21 hrs.

Friends in central IL are paying 3.95 with a 100 gal max. They could have filled their tank in June for a buck and a half but didn't.

Propane was $2.99 last week here in Northern Michigan. Just got a Natural Gas bill from D.T.E. and it is still 47 cents per CCF. Electricity comes to 14.2 cents per KWH (total cost with all the add-ons). Heating oil is $3.49 right now.

NG - one CCF @ 47 cents has 102K BTUs. 91% furnace = 92,820 BTUs. 81% furnace = 82,620 BTUs

Propane - takes 1.1 gallons to equal 1 CCF of NG. So it takes $3.29 to equal 47 cents worth of NG.

Electricity - takes 29.8 KWH to equal the 1 CCF of NG. So, it takes $4.23 in electric to equal 1 CCF of NG that costs 47 cents or $3.29 for propane.

Heating oil - takes 3/4s of a gallon to equal 1 CCF of NG. So, $2.62 of heating oil to equal 47 cents worth of NG, $4.23 of electric, or $3.29 in propane.

Factor in furnace efficiency and heat delivered?
NG @ 91% = 92,820 BTUs for 47 cents.
Hardwood @ 60% = 92,820 BTUs for $1.80
Heating Oil @ 83% = 92,820 BTUs for $3.28
Propane @ 91% = 92,820 BTUs for $3.29
Electric @ 100% = 92,820 BTUs for $3.84

Note that right now - Idaho reports the cheapest electricity rate at 8.4 cents per KWH (with all costs factored into the bill). North Dakota near as cheap. If I was living in Idaho, I might consider using more electric. Northern MI is around 14-15 cents, NY is around 17-18 cents, etc.

The train tracks are full of cars being loaded over here. They can't get the gas loaded fast enough. The sick thing is, if it wasn't for local township government interference, and fracktivism, there would a lot more producing wells that could outpace demand. One huge component of Marcellus shale gas in this "wet gas" region I am in, is liquid fuels. They put in a huge new gas stripping plant. Wet gas was flowing in faster than they could process it, so they were just burning it off in the air. Now, they have capacity up. It's pretty sad to think of people who are stressed and sick with worry about having heat when people in my neck of the woods have made such a stink about getting the gas out of the ground. Maybe if they had to worry like a lot of you, they would change their tune. The infrastructure is the limiting factor in a lot of places. I can assure you that there are plenty of rail cars of gas heading out of here. Despite the fact that I can walk out my door and trip over a dozen wet gas well heads, our price locally is also affected. I don't know the local price right now, but I heard it was extremely high. God bless all of you with warm weather wishes. Actual air temp here is -10, windchill to -21. I will be out in the cemetery with a funeral today, and another one tomorrow. hopefully the graves don't have any water collecting. That will be brutal.

Freind called yesterday it was 4.68 without tax. Lady said price is changing just about with every phone call. I think he is going to ride it out on what he has in the tank. I am glad I have a tankful from last summer.

Around here break even is about 2.30-2.40 a gallon lp on an 80 percent furnance. Electric is about 10c KW. But for a price spike like this what are you going to do? Heat your house on portable electric heaters? I realize electric at this point is cheaper but concerned about the safety of portable type heaters.

Earlier this year, I picked up some small electric heaters at Wally World. Paid $19 each. They had tip over switches and overheat cut-offs.

For the last few years, I always heard Mr. Propane bashing Mr. Electricity on radio commercials. I even saw it in the form of TV commercials. I haven't heard that commercial lately. I'm going to guess that the electricity board has some new ammo to use against propane.
