Was in town today. Saw 4 Bank thermometers. One said 9 one said 12, one said 14 and the last one 18. First 3 where one right after the other and the last one say 30 minutes later. 9 and 18 is a pretty big jump in temps when it is this cold out. Yes I know many factor come into play but the other day some one asked how if you said it was 10 out some one down the road said it was 0

If they had anything to do with banks then don't believe any of them! They would quite happily leave you out in the cold!

I have noticed differences in displayed temperature readings also. I've also felt temperature differences when riding a motorcycle.

I also question my thermometers, pressure gauges, volt meters etc.
I don't know of a good, accurate way to calibrate these instruments.

I'd give a weeks wages to see a thermometer that read as high as any of them up here in Wisco right now! -14° right now and the communist weatherman says it's going down to -23° tonight. Can't wait to see how the windchill will compound that number. UFF DA!

2 branches of First National. Then Central Bank and the other is not a bank but the carpet store my oops but we do in fact have 4 banks there is also U.S. Bank. Have to remember this is a resort town so you got yo have the bank for all them tourist to use the ATM at

Ya if you watch the news and you catch the weather on say 3 channels they never seem to agree on temp even when they are all 3 in the same city

That's like a man with one watch. He knows what time it is. A man with two watches can never be sure. TDF

When it's below 60 I take the highest temp. when it's over 80, I take the lowest. besides the banks never agreeing, none of them ever agree with the digital in the truck or the ones at the house.

Banks give out temperature the same way they administer loan arrangements. Not believable.
noaa.gov will get real temps (probably from a regional airport) they usually do a good job. Just put your Zip code in the box. Jim

Add all four together, divide by four. voilla, correct temperature. Just don't do it while you are driving, counting on your toes while driving is dangerous.lol.If you keep your shoes on it helps negate climate change.lol.

The only one I beleive is the one by my lazy-boy at my command center. The sensor is about 10 feet away from the back of my house. Right now it says -1.9 degrees and its only 7 pm here.

Most bank thermometers sit in a sign on top of the building and can be influenced by the sun, by warmth emminating from the building, etc.

We have a digital outdoor thermometer in our house, and it always reads several degrees higher than the weather channel on the 'Net.

Old, the NWS is saying upper 20's tomorrow and snow and the local radio station is saying 50's.

Location and reflections can make thermometers vary. Compare them at night to elliminate that influence. I have one digital thermometer that consistently reads 2 to 3 degrees low.

When my dad sent me to count cows, I would count them 3 times and take an average. So just average the 4 readings and make that you reading. Isn't that what you do when you make an appraisal.

This maps is used by official stations. Most are at airports I think. It"s kind of long but---

wrh.noaa.gov/zoa/mwmap3.php?=usa

Hope I copied that right.

I have NOAA book marked in the computer but the place where they take the temps is a good 25 miles form me where as town if 7 miles. My point is that no 2 thermometers ever seem to be correct and the other day a guy said something about if he said it was this cold the person he said it to would say it was colder at his place so just saying you can look at 4 different ones and none agree

Wonder about that very thing. Downstairs someone said well it is 24 degree here this morning. Look at the thermometer here and it says 10 degree this morning. It never got above 14 degree here all day and now it is 3 degree headed to -5. We are about in same location. There must be a malfunction at the junction somewhere on somebody's thermometer. Or maybe it is very close to a heated house outside wall.

That's the interest they charge on no credit car loans. LOL. Our kitchen thermometer reads 4 degrees lower than the living room thermometer and the senders for both of them are side by side. Jim

Next time your at the local store go to the area where thermometers are sold. Sitting right next to each other on the shelf temps. will be all over the place. Even worse is look at the humidity meters.
Nothing is made very well anymore.
