Arps Tracks, AC to IH?

Hi all. Me and dad were discussing how ugly my two AC WC's are last night, and he had the interesting thought that perhaps the Arps Tracks could be taken off of the WC and put onto my Farmall Super C?? I think that the biggest problem would be that the tracks wouldn't be long enough, but I could probably have 4 or 6 made? What do yall think? Bryce

All WCs wee modest in the "looks" department. If the tracks are on them now, it might be considered an improvement by some. And if they are operable, they will work well. (I had a 38WC) If they are fence row Allis, maybe there is a good reason to spend $ and psychology, and effort to convert. Jim

I bought two WC tractors for $400 and they came with the tracks. Both are just trashed. One has an after market wide front, used to have a loader, and is stuck. The other is in a little better shape, no good sheet metal or wheels or tires, but it is supposed to run. It is going to take me thousands just to get the parts I need for the one "good" one. The only reason I had to have them was for the tracks just because I figured that they were pretty valuable, or at least worth more that $400! Was I right? Bryce

Why not take to 2 and build one out of them. I do that all the time and that is how I came up with my Farmall BA. Which is the front half of a B and the back half of an A

Oh ya, I do it as well, but both of them are trashed what one needs the other is missing or broken! I would probably have to try to come up with another parts tractor! I am really starting to wonder just how much shorter those tracks would be, because if I remember right, there was just one big U bolt that went around the axle housing on the WC, so in theory it should be about right for the C? Bryce

I have a nice all original 1945 WC with wartime rearend that those would look nice on. It still has all the factory rubber. $1400. Add a rare single front wheel or factory wide front for another $1000 and you would have a real show piece for under $2500!

Bryce, the AC should have either 24" or 28" rear wheels and the IHC should have 36" rear wheels and that much difference will make a lot of difference in the length. Just use a bit of geometry and figure out the wheel diameter on each, the tracks cover about 3/4th of the circumfrence of the tire. I think you will be supprised at how much longer they have to be to go around the wheel. The size for the AC is about the same on your Ford or Ferguson.

The three bolt wide front, common on the WD, was first available from the factory for the Model WC in 1947. One piece single front wheel was factory legal for the WC, not the two-piece "corn picker" front.

Single front is the rare one piece, wide front is this one....also rare.

Good thought... You are right, my Farmall C's and Super C have 36's on the back, however the AC WC, Ford 2n, Ferguson TO-30, and Case VAC all have 11.2 x 28's. What are the odds that the tracks might fit on on of those? The Case is the early kind with out the Eagle Hitch. I would would really like to have the tracks on something, however I really don't have that much interest in try to restore one of these AC's, they are just so rough, and I could see a lot better use of the money going into one of my other "in better shape" tractors! Bryce

Wheel size would be correct but I do not have any Idea how the idler wheels mounted so I have no idea if they could be mounted on the other tractors.
