Moving Snow in Sask.

Thought I would post this pic of a friend's 4020 and snowblower this winter. Originally a 3 point rear mount , it was converted to front mount and driven off the mid pto.

Sure would cut down on the chiropractor visits for "crick in the neck". Took my little JD and post auger up to nephews place and drilled about 100 post holes. Couldn't move my head for 2 days. I imagine rear-mount snow blower would be about the same.

Yes Yes Yes, and He- - yes. Even Green looks good. Better but out a drawing of the PTO. Allen is clearing a spot in the shop as we speak. LOL

Here is how my wife's great uncle powered his front mounted blower.

Simple enough design.

(quoted from post at 12:17:22 01/27/14) do you really need the cab on the 4020, or is it optional?

Need the cab? Well you can certainly live without a cab and run a snowblower. I am still doing it with a 60 year old tractor. But when it is -20F and you are freezing sitting on that open tractor , the cab is a pretty attractive option. The owner of this 4020 says that he is very happy with working "indoors".

The owner of the Kubota agrees!!!! :D

Looks like it would work fine. The few factory built front mount snow blowers that I recall looking at just had a sprocket installed on the pto shaft and a chain running down to the drive shaft that was enclosed inside the push bar frame .

I like the idea of a front blower, and considered buying a newer Schulte front mount a friend of mine traded. Biggest drawback I see is with only a 2wd tractor it can get miserable to back out of some spots. The rear mount is a pain in the neck but at least the weight goes on the drivers when you lift up.

Nice looking John Deere and blower by the way.

(quoted from post at 19:33:38 01/27/14) Please post two more pics. One of the blower where it's mounted on the front of the JD. And one of the frame under the belly. I have a blower just like that one only red and a 4020......

Side view here. You might have to enlarge it a bit.

I am just finishing up a front mount conversion I did with my blower.

I used my loader valve to control the blower functions and double 80 chain drive.

So far it has been working well.

That looks like a strong and simple arrangement too.
