Well the girlfriend said no more tractors till she got a ring on her
finger! Well guess i can buy another tractor cause i gave her a
ring today!

They say marriage is an institution. Then you have mental institutions which when you propose means you belong in one and a penal institution which is what you WILL be in once you exchange vows!

Now why on earth would you not buy what you want just because a girl friend tells you not to or lays down conditions? That ain't a good way to start out!

Anyways congrats! I made the same mistake over 40 years ago. Now it sounds like the judge done spoke. 40 to life! Can't be all that bad if I stay with it this long.

Mine isn't much different than most!
I just do what I think I need to, she settles down eventually!
I sometimes try to discuss the things I want, but it can be painful!

Well Brian Dr Walt is right!
If you want something like a equal-equal mariage you are going to have work hard starting RIGHT NOW.
My wife knew better then to start the ordering around stuff till after we were married and then knew when she was pushing too hard. Most recent experience was last night. She wants a cabinet maker to build kitchen cabinets that is the most expensive by about 10K. After attempting to discuss it without success i just said "You figger it out" and walked off. About 1/2 hour and we were appliance shopping to bring the totasl cost down. And now she will look at number two cabinet maker.

Well I hope that neither of you were brought up in the "self esteem" thing. Marriage can be tough at times even when both don't think that they are better than everyone else.

I have always made sure the farm work income paid for all the farm machinery expenses, and it did. Obviously, takes a while to grow and buy what you want, but that method avoids arguments. And, you become a frugal buyer and more creative along the way.

I hate to rain on your parade but a few of these guys are right....

My wife has some "pull" when it comes to my purchases but over all I chose wisely because she's pretty easy to get along with. A girlfriend on the other hand has no say as to how I spend my money. I've had a few try in my younger years. Not a one of them became my wife.
