Would rather take a summer stroll on the field lane...

Even those of you who farm... I think you have to admit these "weeds" look better than a blizzard.

Nice photos SF.
Yeah, looking at nettles, thistles, cockleburrs, peckerbrush, swampgrass, poison ivy and pigweed would be better than the frozen tundra I see here.

I would take weeds over the CH!t we are having now, cold, snow, and blowing snow. I added a sunflower field that was planted last year to help warm it up some.lol

Yep! I've got about four machines around here to mow with. That's what I do all summer in my spare time. But at least there's something I can do about the weeds. And I'm usually surveying the farm, and enjoying the scenery in general. Can't do much with or about this blasted winter.

Know what you mean, I live in race horse country and they mow their pastures with lawn mowers and weed wackers at least once a week. Then they put out bird feeders. I don't mow much I guess they'll be glad when I'm dead.

Even though you are correct, looking at weeds is better than snow knee deep.
But, be thankful that you live in a time where we have 4wd tractors and trucks. Can you imagine living 100 years ago without 4wd and steam powered behemoths for tractors? You have to take the good with the bad and thank the Lord above.
My 4wd compact diesel will push snow better than any horse would.

if i remember the thistle is the national flower of scotland so whats a weed milkweed was used for insulation so i never call them weeds just a chance.also butterflys love thistles so thats my butterfly garden;-)
how much snow can a horse move neighbors got a two horse pusher i cant belive how much they can move

Good post..However It will seem a little different in 6 months when we weed the garden and fight the weed in the corn and soybeans.

Sweetfeet, I don't recognise any of your weeds but they sure look a lot purdier than ours!.....Sam

Milkweed pods were also used for flotation material in life jackets during the war (the big one).

In grade school we were all given burlap bags and we all went out and collected the ripe pods in the fall. Not sure what we got as a reward other than knowing we were helping win the war.

Looks even better when going from Buffalo to Erie. Had to ride the rubble strip to know where road was.
NO snow from Syracuse to Buffalo and none from Erie to Akron Oh.

SweetFeet; I'm joining Kornfused in that I like the winter scene. It is something you don't see many photos of as most photographers prefer the warm weather shooting. The silo to the left of the barn should be investigated by your camera in 'sweet' light in all seasons. Thanks for sharing.
