O.T. Honda snowblower shear pins.

Are they the ones that look like regular bolt but have a grove cut around them to weaken them??? If it is those type I have made them by putting a grade two bolt in the drill press and using an hack saw to cut the grove in them.

1. How many do you break? Unless you are blowing snow amongst a LOT of debris, I would think breaking a shear bolt would be an odd occurrence? Is there damage to the hole where the bolt goes?

2. For the occasional bolt that is needed, I think I would buy OEM, but if you want to try something else, check at a hardware store that has a cluster of cabinets of various generic hardware. While looking for something else at the local hdwe just a few days ago, I noticed they had a whole drawer of generic snowblower shear bolts.

All good ideas and you should always use the shear bolts. There is nothing nicer than a blown gear box!

do you have a laser dealer around
part # 57902 7/32 by 1 29/32 should be around the $5 mark for the nut and bolt.
