Old, we were thinking of you today. We brought up some of our garlic, dried it and ground it into powder. It's so much better to make your own, from your own garden. We did it last year and were starting to run low so had to make up some more. It's a great way to use up the surplus.

Just for courosity's sake, what do you use to grind dried garlic cloves? I imagine that my fruit dehyderator, would do for drying it. I would like to powder some of mine!

Ya fresh dried and then ground garlic is far better then what you buy at a store. Big problem is that you have to be careful with the dust it makes or it can cause odd problems. By the way I did some canning the last 3 days. Did some salsa due to the wife and son bring home tomato's and all then I did sweet taters then yesterday I did Caramel apple preserves

We slice the cloves with a mandolin very thin, then layer in our dehydrator til dry. We use a spice grinder to powder it. Then sift, any bigger bits get ground again. We put the powdered garlic in small containers then vacuum pack each container to keep the freshness. By the way we do use our tractor to till our garden.

Well it is one I took 2 different ones and made work. My e-mail is always open on the forums so just click on send e-mail and I will scan and fill in the blanks for you

I use a small food chopper but it causes a good bit of dust which can be a problem. A true spice grinder would work better but I use what I have
