Folks call those gooses, cananada geese, that fly to Mexico every vinter.
Maybe they are Mexican geese that spend the summer in Canada.
Could be they are named wrong.

Obviously we don't have any bother with them , but does anyone ever call them 'Tasty' or is 'Nusiance' a better name?
Sam

Just listen to them honk. That's french not spanish.
Plus they cross the borders during daylight instead of sneaking in under cover of darkness. :)

Have you ever seen a dead one in a field that probably fell from a heart attack in flight?
Farming for 45 years, I've never seen one.

Hunters around here will pay over $3K for a goose pit for the season. With about four men in the blind, and a limit of 4 geese, they don't come cheap. And, all we do is breast them out and throw away the rest of the carcass. There's not enough meat on the rest of the bird to make it worth going after. But, the breasts, when done right, are very tasty......

Back in the early 1960s when I was a kid we never saw a canada goose. I one time saw one fly by and we didn"t know what it was.
The things now are like flies here in Minnesota.
We are now seeing a lot of Trumpiter swans.

This winter we have so many of them geese around here its getting bad. Glad my pond froze over so they move to another. Twenty years ago had none here in the winter.

if they are going to Mexico they got lost. Here in southern Ohio are everywhere. I wornd they crap on everything football fields parking lots pretty nasty birds.

It's a hard life for the Canadian Geese these days. With the crazy weather one week it's spring and they fly north only to find winter the next week and they have to turn around and go south. In texas they are going north this week.

We have them here year round they never leave. There had to be a thousand on the sand pit lake(on the ice) this afternoon.

I just stand of the back deck of the house and blast the brutes. Don't even need a dog as the geese fall onto the lawn

Very interesting! Guess that's why they are accurately called Canada geese up North and down "heah" they are referred to as Canadian.....not knowing any better. But I know better now so I will use the proper vernacular.
