Why I want a dash cam video.

This is why I want to have a dash cam. I managed to stay out of this one, but it could have been bad. I din't edit it down so you can see a comparison of how fast I was going compared to some of the other traffic. Some have said it looks like I'm going fast, but it is very decieving on video. Watch this and tell me how fast you think I was going and I'll let you know how close you came. The good stuff is at the 1 minute mark.

I was thinking about 45 from watching the road.

My son said something similar happened to him a few weeks ago. he had to take the pickup and trailer to Cincinatti to pick up a hone that weighed about 1900 pounds. He said the roads were bad coming home. I guess he was up by Dayton and some girl was driving ahead of him. He said as long as you stayed in your lane you could roll right along 65-70. He said the gal got over and hit the snow between the lanes and just all of a sudden she was gone. Right sideways in to the other lane.

Kinda hard to tell but I'd guess 55 or less. Most likely closer to the 45-50 mark. I think with the way law suits are going that you are going to see a lot more dash cams here in the US. That cam can save you or condemn you in court. I I was driving OTR I'd want one.

less than 50 if you watch the scenery pass and not right at the end of the hood, the ice patches make it look faster, 4 wheelers are amazing the one car went into a slide, so then they hit the brakes, the worst thing to do lol hope they liked the shoulder

The "black Box" can tell how fast you are going when you have and accident.

One of our big Mack Tandem snow plows hit a car that suddenly turned left in front of it; car passenger was killed. Lawyer started screaming that the snowplow truck was over the speed limit. Black Box showed that it was 4 mph UNDER the speed limit.

Lawyers aren't so likely to sue the state anymore with Black Boxes that state the vehicle speed. I don't know if the state has installed dash cameras yet, but they would be good defense for the state in most cases.

WOW, the guesses are all over the place. Wonder why that is. I was going right at about 55mph when she hit her turn signal which is when she started her skid. It's hard to see that in the vid because of the wet windshield. As soon as I saw her loose it I started slowing and by the time she passed by I was down to about 40mph. Went back up to 50 or so after.

Looks like you are probably hanging around sixty five. Brought back old memories, I used to run in that stuff at eighty and think nothing about it. Be safe out there.

Camera being your personal property--not company--If you were involved in accident an it was other persons fault you sure would want it used for defense however if accident is caused by you can video be used against you?I believe it is necessary for a court order for authorities to be able to access information that all vehicles now have on computers .But always wondered if video showing you at falt could just disapeer.

I suppose if that were the case you could "loose" the memory card, it's a mini and only about 1/4" square so it could hide in a lot of places.

Looks to me like you were doing 60 plus in the early part and dialed it back to ~50 in the later part when things started going sideways.

If you have a non driven tag that should be good on ice as long as you have enough traction to keep going, right? I have driven harvest truck for sugar beets in the MN red river valley and when it starts to rain I would leave the air lift tag down on the pavement when empty for stability, seemed to help. kind of scared me the first time the 35,000 lb. empty truck started sliding around! This was a Mack with two drive axles with some kind of traction control and an air-lift tag ahead of them. Pretty good truck in the mud!
