Year make and model. Can't tell you anything based on what you posted.

Rick

I discourage you from doing anything until you figure out what kind of car you have. People come into my law office all the time wanting advice, but they left their paperwork at home. "Oh, did you need that?" "Only if you wanted me to actually give you some usable advice rather than just charging you 50 bucks and sending you on your merry way."

Drop in a small block Chevy, 400 turbo automatic, 4.11 rear 13X35 tires, you will be good to go, It"ll bolt right in. If"n there is not a hole for the bolt just get some Duckt tape or some JB weld it.

A little junk yard hopping should find a good rear end for that. If not there are companies that will take a newer rear end and put the gearing in it you want plus mod it to be a bolt in conversion.

I'd vote for a small block Chevy (the 350 is about bullet proof and easy to build up) and a TH 400 if it's just going to be a toy or a 700R if it's going to be a daily driver.

Oh, Yes! Like everyone says, a 350 engine would be a good all around power plant, and should be easy to find. Choice of auto or manual. I used to work with a man who had a 52 Chevy coupe. He had a 283 in it. Nice little car, used it for his daily driver. Upgrading a 4dr. sedan would really be a hoot!

82-93 S-10 pickup or 55-57 chevy rear will fit if you redrill the spring center bolt hole in the perch also 9 inch Ford from 57 to 59. Mustang 64-66. most newer rearends are too wide to fit in the fenderwells.

Because they had 6 cylinder engines, the compartment is long enough to take almost any engine/trans combo.
I would go for the 94 through 96 Impala SS drive train. it has the components to make power, and is the last of the rear drive Impalas. Jim

I'd suggest you go with a 4 cylinder, turbo charged diesel out of the F2 Gleaner combine! WELL, you asked!

YES that would be the hot ticket for sure. have a 94 caddy with that drive train. my daily driver. too good a deal to put in the chevy. out of my budget. thanx all for the good advice. CC
