As many of you know I have had a several wood-mizer mills over the years. Current mill I about 5 years old and before cold weather I put it in the shop just to go over it while the weather was bad. Have ordered several small parts orders but last weed discovered an electrical cable that was worn. Called and gave the parts folks the part number that I wanted shipped, but the guy said that is not what you want here is the number you want so who am I to know. Told him to ship it ,was wrong cable called back and told them the story , Fed-Ex just delivered the right cable overnight at no charge , pretty good customer service. O original cable was billed at $ 73 dollars this invoice shows 136 dollars but no charge, good will. Can,t beat these folks.

I used my cousins last summer it's a older
model & he didn't take care of it at all. With
about a weeks work getting things free'd up
I cut some hemlock trees up that have been in
my way. For some young buck who didn't know a
single thing about a machine like that, I made
so REAL nice lumber in no time. I would love
to own one, but the dollars are near me to
have one. I know the one I used , that still
needs new parts will sit outside & only rust
back up again. I can't imagine how nice a new
machine or a machine in tip top shape would
work.. A VERY HANDY TOOL!!!!!!

R Started out about 20 + years ago with a small gas mill and have had several before this one. Full hydraulic ,diesel engine, all the bells & whistles. Have over 400 acres of woods here on this farm so always something to saw. They are sure productive that is for sure.

How do you sell your lumber? I have a lot of woods on my farm with a variety of oak, maple, black walnut, hackberry, lots of cedar, and other types of trees.

I'd love to try sawing and air drying it, but I have no idea how to market it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cat guy standard lt40 mill will saw 21 ft stuff with a little work one can slide back and get another 4 ft but wood miser also makes 10 ft additions to the mill . Call 800-525-8100 when they answer I think select option 1 and they will give you a list of sawyers in your area.

Tom : first of all I / we just use a lot of it, for projects, buildings, sheds, truck beds whatever. Then over the years farmers and locals have learned that if they need a piece say for something special or maybe up to a pickup load for building gates or other things. Then last of all I have a large pallet manufacturing company that will take about anything I want to cut in the junk woods like beach , sycamore sweetgum ect.
Really don't cut to sell but do pay for the upkeep. Sawing is more like my golf, what I do when I want to relax and get away. You don,t need the phone ringing when you are sawing, requires full attention but I like it.

We sell a few thousand worth a year of green or air dried lumber on Craigslist. Mostly hardwood, ash, maple, hickory etc. I advertise in the materials section of craigslist. Thinking about making a solar kiln this year.

Zach Solar is better than air but here is what is easy and cheap. Find an old short (pup) trailer like they deliver food in. Insulated type use a waste oil heater. After lumber has been on sticks of 6 weeks can put it in there 300 deg for 6 to 10 days and take it to 6%. Low cost and easy. I am redoing every thing , new mill shed and setting up the drier a little different but sure beats the sun.
