On our way home the weather turned better as we passed Sterling....the castle is on top of the hill, really worth visiting if you get the chance......

Once you hit the west coast of Scotland you can see this big rock island out in the sea....It is the famous Ailsa Craig. Also visible from Northern Ireland and home to only sea birds! The granite from this rock is used to make curling balls for use World-wide
mvphoto2837.jpg

The closer to Northern Ireland we got, the better the weather became....
And you can still see the Ailsa Craig!.......

By the time we got to Cairnryan Port, our ferry terminal to Belfast, the sun was setting.........

By the time we got the ferry at 7.30 pm it was dark.

Sam been lucky in my life and traveled a lot of the world but never to Scotland . I want to say I really enjoy you photos and I am sure there are others that do also.

I really enjoyed watching your post on the building. We are currently constructing a new mill building here on the farm when weather permits.

Thanks again for the pics. They take my mind off of the minus zero temps here.

Have you ever thought about how much labor was involved in building those huge stone buildings hundreds of years ago? Not only in the actual construction but in the quarrying of the stones, loading them on ox carts and transporting them to the building site. No wonder people only lived half as long then as we do now.

What kind of a ferry did you take? One that looks like a cruise ship that has a ramp that flops down for the cars and trucks? We were on one like that on a trip between Finland and Estonia. Park the car in the belly and go up to the lounge to drink your cares away. No, I wasn't driving, couldn't read the signs. LOL Jim

Fixerupper, It is what is called a ro-ro ferry (roll on-roll off!) It is
operated by the Swedish company Stenna Line. Just as you say, like
a mini cruise ship!

Nice pictures. Re green grass, I don't have any in SC and I'm a lot farther south than MN!

I looked up Alisa Rock. Very interesting.

Thank You so much, my next overseas trip will be to Scotland and England. I look forward to seeing the cities and the country. Your pictures make me want to go more than ever. I hope to spend 1 or 2 months looking up ancestors that our family havn't seen. Will be 2 or 3 years in the future.
