It's so cold that...

there was frost on the chickens this morning. Never seen that before but it was in patches on the outside of their feathers. They didn't look happy. They are in a small insulated coop with some ventilation up high where it can't blow directly on them. Once the sun comes around to the windows they will warm up, I hope they will survive. -28 was the overnight low.

Just make sure you get the eggs every 2 - 3 hours. It was 15 degrees in my chicken house this morning with outside temp of 4. But the wind is suppose to pick up by noon today. With the cold the last month we are down to 8-10 eggs a day out of 35 mix breed birds!!

On another note, my lambing season started this morning at 4:30 with the first set of twins.....

Zack, they will be fine. We have dipped down to -28 a couple of times this year and haven't lost any.

That when I just went out to start my car...
I got "brain freeze" without even having slurped a Slushee through a straw!

It's cold enuf around here that Mason and Dixon just relocated their line to the border of North and South Carolina.......

So cold that dog took a wiz on the plow parked in the yard - had to drag out the propane torch to melt him off. Had to warm the propane torch three times to keep the flame going.

I had a 77 f250 one time and it had poor heat even when it was new. When the temperature was in the teens and twenties, I would stop while driving 15 miles to work and get out and walk around to warm up. Could be the truth and could not be. Tommy

This guy's dodge's heater quit so he put in a wood stove to keep warm.... At least it looks like a stove pipe behind the cab.

For many years, they quit putting horns on those trucks - didn't need one because it said DODGE right on the front.

Now they say RAM which is probably more dangerous, eh?

Hope he has a good damper. LOL
How in the world are you supposed to keep rain, snow, birds,
baseballs, tennis balls, etc out of that ridiculous looking pipe?
They always look like a waste of a foot of bed space to me.

When I was a kid, my bedroom was so cold that I had so many covers to hold up that i had to get out of bed 3 or 4 times a night to rest.
