That was a good post about the snow days, I'm over in eastern NY, not far from Albany, it always amazes me how the western part of the state gets the lake effect snow, but it peters out, or we just don't get it. I'm at about 1350 ft+_ feet of elevation, so alot of times we get more snow than say Albany. I also thought on modern marvels last week they said Buffalo was the snow capital of the world? Lol

I'm in the Buffalo area. Snow capital is pure hokey. Started with the blizzard of 77 and Johnny Carson coining us as the snow capital...all bull. We have maybe a dusting on the ground now.
Lake effect hits south of Buffalo and they get a bit more.

So since you in that area I need to ask you something. I have been trying to find a Navy friend who is/was from that area. Please e-mail so I can maybe get your help in finding him. Thanks

Yea, you get it from the altitude.
There is an on going thing between Buffalo and Syracuse since Johnny said that. Every so often Buffalo beats this area for the title by a few inches but not often.
According to the article on Yahoo News some place in Japan wins (or loses depending on how you look at it LOL) the title for most snow at 100 to 125 feet a year. If thats real they can keep the record.
