at last Wednesdays hay auction, nice 3rd cutting alfalfa sold for $5.30 a bale. Tight 1st cutting 4x4 round bales, stored inside, sold for $30. Hay seems to be coming down from falls price.

I am in Mass and small squares are $5 and up. My buddy's wife with a horse was very happy to get 1st cutting for $6 picked up at the farm. We are seeing wrapped silage bales around $30-$40 and non-wrapped between $40-$50.

The hay auctions in Iowa report shows top quality alfalfa at up to $275 a ton with excellent grass hay at $175 a ton.The want ads have many large rounds advertised at $50 on up but quality and size would be the main factor.Corn at $4.30 has had an effect and lack of rain hurt our hay crop after the first cutting.

hay is not movin in s, ind ,,. I have 1000 lbs clover / orchard grass bales @ $30,, and cant get a call,,. sqares of clover / alfalfa / orchard grass@ $ 4 bux ,, and barely movin with a customer each week ,.. t he ronds have to go

hay prices are down I sold my LG rounds, grass hay, right out of the field for 60.00, they are bringing 50.00 or less now.

I'm glad we sold all of ours out of the field.

Not sure what the current prices are but we had a bad year for hay so I'm sure in the local area it's up. The BIL and I are both good on hay but I'm feeling sorry for the guys that ain't.

I had quite a year in 2013 with grass hay. Yield was way up on the old field and demand was high so I opened up a few acres I had not sold in a while. That last stuff was surprisingly weed free for being untouched a couple years. Sold every bale off the field. It was gone in two hours. I never loaded a bale and took the wagons back empty. Price was higher than I used to get a few years back when I loaded and delivered. Each year is different and the price goes up and down with demand BUT....

I could get used to that!

Eastern Colorado hay prices are still up pretty high, avg. $11 for small sq. grass hay and $120 per bale for 800lb 3x3x8 lg. sq. grass hay, the drought we had in 2012 was the worst here in a long time, I didn't put up a single bale that year, 2013 hay crop was ok but wasn't the best after the drought and was a little weedy.

2013 totals was down by about 30% from normal years but should be better this year I hope.

Still tight in my area. Haven't checked large rounds here for a while, but the best prices on sm. sq's is $7.00
