Went to Gas direct injection class last night . Pretty cool stuff. Chrylser/Fiat is coming out with a 4 cylinder that will put out 330hp .

I owned a Fiat 850 Spyder 2 seat roadster back in the 1970's. That was the most fun car I ever owned. 4 cylinder water cooled rear engine and 4 speed manual trans. It felt and sounded like a Farrari when you drove it, but with 48 ci and 50 hp you could drive the hell out of it and not get too far outside the law.

Plus I was getting 34 mpg when everyone else was getting 12-14. It only had a 6 gallon gas tank.

Sales figures for December for Fiat in the USA were a whopping 3,745 units with a total of 43,236 Fiats sold in the US for the 2013 year.

Chrysler Group sold a total of 161,007 vehicles in Dec including Fiat, with a total of 1,800,368 total sales for 2013.

Ford sold a total of 2,485,236 vehicles in 2013 and GM sold 2,786,078 during the same period.

So overall Chrysler is doing good but Fiat as a stand alone isn't fairing very well at all. BMW and MB are far out selling Fiat even though most of their cars fall into the luxury class by about 10 to 1 or so.

330hp 4 cylinder - that's pretty impressive.

I wonder if that engine would be a direct swap for the 4 cylinder in my D7 Caterpillar ?? lol

The Cat has just shy of 1000 cubes, but it isn't making anywhere near 330 horse.

I'd still challenge that 330 H.P. gas burner to a pull-off, and I don't care what they bolt it into.

I hear they are getting compression ratio's similar to Diesel without pre-ignition issues. I would have gone along if I could have.
