With all the discussion lately about your favorite or least
favorite vehicle, I thought I would ask what was the first vehicle
you drove by yourself. List both tractors and automobiles.

Mine was a 1010 John Deere at around 5. My first auto was a
68 F-250 pickup with 3 on the tree at around 10 or 11.

My first tractor was a 1937 John Deere D ( still have), truck was a 1951 1 1/2 ton Chevy and car was a cream color 1960 Oldsmobile dynamic 88.

First tractor is a H Farmall with a 27v mower or a 4 row go-devil. First car would be a 47 Studebaker. First car owned was a 55 Ford Victoria 2 door Harddtop 3 on the tree with overdrive.

First vehicle was either a 1974 Powerwagon or a 1976 cj7 jeep I can't remember but I know my first tractor I ever drove was a 1954 66 oliver which we still have.

my first tractor was my 52 Oliver 77 and my first car was a 56 Ford customline with the 272 Y8. Most of the new so called V8s today are really Y8s. Chuck

Technically, a 2010 JD, whereas I was real young, like pre-school, I fooled with the console shifter, it rolled a few feet, one thing is for sure, I had no business on that tractor alone, parental units were not very watchful or all that concerned, I paid for that several times, thinking back, boy did I pay for that. I should have been a statistic, it all started on that tractor LOL ! In reality, '64 4000 S-0-S, spent a lot of time on that tractor, 10-11 years old. First car was a boat, '73 impala, factory air, tilt wheel, factory stereo. PB/PS. I had made a deal for a green '68 firebird convertible in original condition, needed a top, no rust, factory paint, been in a garage for awhile, $700, told my coworker friday, I'll bring the money to work that monday, I did, jerk sold it over the weekend, I had worked all summer and saved for it, he knew that too. Oh well ended up not having a cool car in HS, so what LOL ! at least I had a car and a job. Thinking back, at that time you could find some nice ones like that one was, relatively cheap. 350/auto but still, what would that be worth today LOL !

1959 Anglia English Ford, what a piece of crap. The English did not build enough beef in the starter to start in cold North America.

OK that's differant !! Shows how good we really read. Mine than was a Farmall B and a 1934 ton and half Ford truck.

age 12, a 1953 plymouth station wagon with a 3 speed. tractor was a jd while on a family trip in rhode island when i was 16.

Tractor was a 47 case vac, about 8 yrs old I still have. Truck was a 82 ford 14 yrs old hauled hay wagons for the neighbor.

Mine was a Ford 4600 tractor with a Dunham lier loader on it, not counting garden tractors. My first truck was my dads 1973 gmc custom deluxe 1500, 4x4, auto, with a 350cid. Great truck. I still have it! I don't know which way pic will come out, I took it with my iPhone, I may not have had the phone the right way, I don't remember. Sorry.

First tractor driving...Dads '47 BR John Deere when I was 5. We were pulling out thorn trees, he would back up to the tree, wrap the chain around it 3 or 4 times and hold the loose end...I would engage the clutch,go about 6 ft he'd holler "whoa" I would snap the clutch back...remember that like it was this morning...CRAP...just figured out that was 48 yrs ago!First car driving...moving Dad's '61 Chev Biscayne around the yard. Was (and still am better than) my older sister with 3 on the tree.
Dad's gone now as is the Chev. Still have the BR...and my sister

The first tractor I drove by myself was my Gramp's 41 Farmall H. The first car I drove by myself was mom's 64 Buick Special with a 225ci V6. Both were great vehicles.

First tractor was a Tiger garden tractor, age about 5, in the burbs in NJ. First auto was a 69 AMC Rebel SST wagon that I got my drivers license in. First vehicle owned was a 51 Chevy 3/4 ton long bed.

First tractor, I don't know the make or model, it was a green diesel, we were visiting my dad's aunt & uncle and Uncle Hank figured I should learn how to drive a tractor (I was 5), a few years later Aunt Gloriana got real sick (cancer) Uncle Hank didn't have a farm or tractor after that. First tractor I remember that I knew what it was and got to drive it more than a few feet was a Farmall H, my solo in a car/truck had to of been Dad's '72 Ford F-350 Crew cab, I drove that thing all over the farm and a few other places I probably shouldn't of, it was also the first vehicle I ever drove on a public road (first time Dad picked me up from driver's ed) and what I eventually took my driver's test on. First car I drove by myself was a '61 Mercury Comet, the very same one we used to pull start the Farmall H (had the only Farmall in town with a Ford starter), 'course we had the only Farmall on our section or any of the adjoining sections, it was a John Deere town, about everyone had a 60.

First tractor was granddads Ford Golden Jubilee, about 9 years old pulling a John Deere baler, First truck was a 1959 Ford F150 4x4.

The tractor was a 2-62 white 4wd I was 7 and sent to rake hay. That was a mess. The first vehicle was a 1976 international pu at 10.

My first vehicle was Dad's 1965 pickup. I would move it along the fenceline he was working on, probably around 5 years old.

First tractor, DC case dragging the yard in the spring with two 4' drag sections hooked behind it. Probably about the same age.

Still have both, but neither has run in 25 years.

Is a mule a tractor?
About 8 years old dragging a sled to gather corn on.
the mule already knew what to do and got a bit aggravated at me :)

Tractor was Farmall F-20 with 10th case wheeled disc. Dad lowered the disc with the case 400. And then hooked the f-20 to the disc to disc corn stalks before plowing. First vehicle was a 47 studebaker 11/4 truck. I was12or 13.

First tractor I drove was Dad's 1948 Allis B at age 6 hauling feed and water to chickens, which I still have. First car I ever drove was also Dad's 1953 Chevy, also the first car I ever owned. Wish I had the old Chevy also.

Dad used to pull car outa garage to fuel up and permited me to steer it while he push it back so was probably mom's 62 corvair I was around 4-5. 1st tractor would be what I have now 43 2N.
Didn't grow up on a farm and Gramps was smart enough to not permit me to drive his red tractor.

First tractor was a 1939 9N at age 8; first car was a 1936 Pontiac at age 8; first truck was a 1935 Dodge 1-1/2 ton at age 9.

First thing on the road Drivers Ed car

The first full sized vehicle I drove by myself would probably have been my Dads Doodlebug for plowing snow, followed by a Hough HM payloader. First car by myself would have been the folks 68 Chevelle wagon, I think, and Dads F100 which was about a 67 or 68 IIRC. First car of my own- a 64 Covair bought for $85.00, worth every penny too! First actual tractor would be my FIL's Case VAC which I still have.

First motorcycle- Honda 55 dating from the early 60's. I LOVED that thing! There wasn't a trout stream in 20 miles I couldn't get too and a heck of a lot of little mountain ponds that were only supposed to be accessed by foot got a visit too.

first vehicle i drove alone was a farmal C around age 9, the first truck was the farms early 60's chevy around age 11, drove that just on the farm,

First tradtor driven: Fordson.

First truck: Probably a school bus. Early 50s Chevys and Dodge.

First tractor was Fordson. First car was a 1957 Ford station wagon, try getting a date when thats what you had to drive. My sister got to drive the Oldsmobile.

Dad would let me steer while he worked the pedals when I was very young. I remember steering his '59 Ford Ranch Wagon. Probably steered the '53 Ford too but don't remember.
I also remember operating the loader controls on a Michigan loader while Dad drove it. I was 3.
As far as actually driving on the road myself, I think it was probably my sister's boyfriend's 66 T-bird when I was 13. First tractor I ran myself was a Case 450 track loader in my teens.

First tractor was a John Deere L at about 6 years old. My job was to back out the driveway to a block pulling the hay fork to unload loose hay.
First truck (same age) was an old chevy platform truck. My job there was to tow the hay loader around the field.

First farm machine was a Bobcat 753 when I was 6. I didn't actually run the arms and bucket, just pulled the hydrostats back while dad rode in the bucket and threw small squares into a feed bunk.

First tractor I drove alone was a John Deere 2950 raking hay.

First vehicle was a 1980 Ford F350 manual around the fields at 12 or 13.

1st tractor, 1955 WD45 in 1956, I still have it, first car, 1956 Chevy that had been in the family since new, 3 years ago, unknown to the rest of the family, just before he died, dad sold it to a used car dealer in southern Iowa. favorite tractor, D17 series 4 diesel MOST hated tractors those d****** no start 2-8-9n ford that the neighbor had me spend hours trying to start and run for him in the 1950-1960's. Wifes uncle bought hundreds of those dam things and scrapped them in the 1970's. I'm only sorry I wasn't around to help do it.

Massey Harris Pony plowing snow. Dad bolted a block to the clutch pedal so I could reach it. But the first time I plowed was with an Oliver 66. Dad got off to pick up a rock and told me to go ahead on down to the end, turn around and come back and pick him up.

As far as a vehicle,do you mean on the road? I might have been 12 or 13. Drove Dad's 66 Chevy half ton. He used to deliver bundles of The Detroit Free Press to the carriers late Saturday night/early Sunday mornings. I'd go with him a lot. I knew the route for sure. He was so tired one night that he had to have a nap. He told me to drive for a while. It was all rural driving from one town to another,no traffic.

First tractor was Grandpa's '53 Jubilee when I was 6. Mine now. First car/truck was Grandpa's '76 F150 w/ 360 FE V8 and 4-speed, when I was 13. Just around the farm, but that does include roads to and from fields. First car I bought was '67 Mustang, 289 V8 and C4 auto. Still have it.

First farm tractor was a Case model D in Ovid, New York.. the first auto was a 1961 Ford Falcon 144 Cu. in. 6 cylinder that put out a whopping 85 horsepower.. My next vehicle was a '67 CJ5 Jeep with the Dauntless 225 V-6.. Now that jeep was a screamer.. Could power shift second gear and pull the front wheels off the ground, and wind 70 out of second gear.. I once beat a Barracuda v-8 with the Jeep for miles of traffic lights.. We pulled into Painesville Manners Drive-in.. He asked me what I had under the hood of the Jeep... I told him it was the 134 4 banger........OMG you should have seen his face...

Tractor, 1940 JD A, First car I owned....1948 Ford Club Coupe..straight out of the junkyard. Learned to wrench enough to make it go. Wish I had it now!

Funny. I don't remember the first vehicle I drove or who taught me to drive. I do remember the high school friend who taught me how to drive a manual transmission.

Tractor was an "A" John Deere. I was small enough that I was not able to push the clutch all the way in. Dad had me stand on the platform and push it in enough to make it creep ahead when he said to while he picked rocks. No idea how old I was but could not have been very old!
Vehicle was a '52 Ford F-1. Remember to this day trying to ease the clutch out so it would not stall. It was the next year that I really could drive it . Must have gotten longer legs!

City kid @ age 12 (summer of 1959) - ancient Ford pickup, so old it didn't have any paint left on it. First tractor was on old D8 cable dozer, started it with the pony motor - age 16 .

Doc

My Dad let me own cars before I was of age, I was fascinated with cars and engines early on . I got a 1964 Chevy Biscayne at age 10 for a hundred bucks, that I drove around the fields and puttered with, and had a couple more before I was even 16 . My first road car was a pretty hot 73 Nova. First tractor driven was a 53 Super H , which I still have.

Have the first tractor I drove at home, my 41M, which was Dads. First car I drove, well I cant remember. It was either a 72 Gran Torino, or a 79 LTD II, or could have been the 69 F100 we had. I really dont remember. I know the first one I LEGALLY drove, Dads 75 Chevy Dually!

First tractor I drove, was a '39 JD 'B'. First tractor I owned was my G-dad's MT. First one I bought was a 2520D in 1970. My first car was a '59 Chevy Impala convertible.

Been too many years ago to recall definitely, but first vehicle was probably '41 Chev pickup. I would steer it around in the hay field while Dad picked up bales and loaded on towed 4-wheel trailer.
First tractor was either '37 D or '46 A.
First vehicle I owned was a used 53 Ford 4-door sedan, three on the tree with overdrive, flat-head V8, when I was a sophomore in HS. Paid $370 for it in about 1956.

A friend has a bumper sticker on the wall in his shop that says, " A guy will remember the 1st tractor he ever drove, and the 1st girl he ever kissed". My 1st tractor was a 41B that Grandpa bought new. Still have it. 1st car was Dad's 61 Impala. Still have it too.

First tractor I ever drove was Grandpa's WD45. Still have it as a parts tractor. First car I ever owned, and still have is a numbers matching '68 Chevelle SS396. Care is a work in progress frame off restoration.
I bought the car in 1984 for $400. Car sat under tarps from 1986 till 2005 at the farm while I was on active duty.

Leonard

First tractor was a Ferguson. Was sitting on it, knocked it out of gear and steered it to the bottom of a fill and into the fence row. Neither I nor tractor was hurt but scared a lot of the workers who could only stand and watch

Bought my first car when I was 17. It was a 1954 Ford and paid $250.00 for it.

1st tractor a 1929 L Case , a short drive at the first corner I couldn't straighten it out and went round an round until Dad come up and jumped on and stopped it. I was 12. The first one I drove in the fields sucessfully was a new 1948 LA Case, I was 13. As to car 1942 Dodge in 1942 at 7 years old. Truck A 1924 Packard limo. made into a truck in 1943 at 8. At the same time a 1929 Ford Model A truck. I drove them in the wheat harvest field. When I was 13 I was driving a new 1947 1 & 1/2 ton REO truck to town and dumping wheat in our bins and the local elev.

My very first car was a 1953 4 dr, sedan Rambler. Gas eating 6 in it. Was hard to get girls just go for a ride. Money was tight and I was shamed some in it. It was black and red. Roung radio in it.

1967 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup truck and a Farmall Cub, at about age 14. I took driver's ed at school from the football coach. He knew we farmed and didn't make me do the driving hours, just rode along once to say I'd been in the car with him. My first car that I drove all the time was a '66 Plymouth Belvedere.
