CASE VAC runnning issues

hey,
I have a 1954 Case VAC-14 and it starts up and runs fine for a few minutes then just shuts off. It will start right back up and run fine again for 3-5min then shut off again. this process repeats for 3 or 4 times then it will run fine the rest of the time i use it. I'm kinda lost as to go about trouble shooting this problem. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Was there any frost buildup on the intake pipe that the carb bolts to. Might have been condensation and iceing problem, untill it warmed up.

I do not mean to be insulting when I ask this but , how fimilular are you with a carborated engin? Are you just not giving it a little choke, till she gets warm? I have a VAC and some times you have to choke it a bit to get her to move when you first fire the old gal up. Bruce

Check the fuel filter screen in the sediment bowl and the filter screen in the carb inlet elbow is it's still there. Better figure on picking up a sediment bowl gasket before hand.

Not uncommon if it does that only when it is real cold out. If you can mess with the choke and keep it running then it is a simple cold engine and clod engines do not like to run well till warmed up a bit

i am familiar with carbureted engines and know you leave it choked until its warm. despite the position of the coke 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 it would still shut off. There was also no frost on the intake anywhere its stored in a garage and though it is not heated it is fully insulated and it was 40 degrees in there the last time i started it to plow snow. i will check the sediment bowl and filter screen next.
