A little obsevation from today

Something dawned on me today on my way to the stockyard.
You know you're driving past a rural high school when about 75% of the vehicles in the student parking lot are pickups.

My niece drives a Ford diesel pickup that's big enough to be the Partridge Family bus.

When daughter went to college, she wanted a PU for transportation so she wouldn't be always be being asked to provide transportation for a bunch of girls in the dorm. Can't load many in a compact PU!

I don't know about that. My cousin had a Ford Ranchero when we were in high school. Had a topper on it even. We took it to MSU for Farmers Week one time and rode around campus with 14 of us in it. Four of them in the front and there were 10 of us packed in the back. Went pretty good until somebody dropped a cigarette.

When my 32 year old son went to his senior prom a few years ago he wanted to drive my new truck. It was a standard cab with an 8 ft. box. It did have chrome factory wheels a grill. I couldn't figure it out but he was as proud as he could be with it.
A couple of years earlier they wanted me to pull their float in the homecoming parade. I had a fifteen year old four door f-250 with a 8 ft box. Their float had a western theme.

Back in the late 50 and early 60 not many people had pickups around here, I was 14 before I ever saw a four wheel drive, It was a 1965 Chevy 8' box. Would love to have one like it.

It dosent bother me nun but most of them are newer and in better shape than mine. :) :) :) . And some are old clasics in good shape.
And THAT bothers me..lol
Partrige famley......Your dating yourself :p :p

My granddaughter goes to UK, can have anything within reason, she wants to drive. Her choice, Ford F150 extended cab, 4WD, no other options. Makes me jealous, better truck than mine. By the way, she's on a full ride scholarship based on grades, valedictorian of her class. Obviously did not inherit my genes.

I drove a '63 Bonneville convertible to MSU farmer's week once, everything was fine until someone said "let's put the top down" so we did. It was 34 degrees outside. When we pulled up to a stop sign my brother looks over at a guy on a bicycle and says "isn't it a little cold to be riding a bicycle?" We went out to the swine barn, the MSU DPS (Don't Park at State)/meter maid directing traffic asked if we were cold, "heck no we got the heater on" then we stopped at the Dairy Store and got ice cream cones.

Lexington. That's the one place on earth where a pickup might be out of place. Most folks don't think affluence when they think Kentucky, but you're more likely to see a BMW,Lexus or Cadillac Escalade there than anywhere else I've ever been.

I drove a 15 year old car in high school. It was very nice but looked like it was 15 years old style wise. The cars now don't look old. My nephew's pickup is 15 years old and I would gladly drive it!

The patridge family who can forget +com'n get happy+ widow with 5 kids (politically correct for 70's no divorce back then) and who can forget the redhead memories kinda like false teeth both come with gettin old

Junior and senior class boys are most likely to drive to school because they have after school sports practice or maybe an after school job. The girls and younger boys have fewer after school activities so riding the bus works better for them.
